Alia Bhatt faces backlash for silence on Gaza crisis, lands on ‘Block Out 2024’ list

Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt has joined the ranks of celebrities like Taylor Swift and Priyanka Chopra on the ‘Block Out 2024’ list, a group of entertainers and influencers being blocked by fabs for not speaking up about the Gaza genocide. Despite her recent appearances at events like the Met Gala and the Gucci Cruise show, Alia Bhatt has faced criticism for not raising her voice for Palestinians.

The ‘Block Out 2024’ movement encourages people to unfollow and block these celebrities on social media, aiming to hit them financially by reducing their social media influence.

Other notable names on the list include Priyanka Chopra, her husband Nick Jonas, and cricketer Virat Kohli. These celebrities have significant platforms but haven’t used them to speak out against Israel’s attacks in Gaza.

Some big names from the West have also been added to the ‘Block Out’ list, including Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Kylie Jenner, Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Khloe Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Demi Lovato, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Zac Efron, Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and Justin Timberlake, among others.

Will Virat Kohli participate in T20 World Cup?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a decision on the participation of star batsman Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rumors alleging that Virat Kohli will not be included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup had been circulating for a while. However, now the Board has decided to include the master batsman in the squad for the T20 World Cup starting in America and West Indies from June.

The report said that Kohli wanted clarification from the selection committee. During a meeting between captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, it has been decided that Kohli will participate in the event and also open the inning with Rohit Sharma. Kohli has batted most of his career at No. 3 but has a great record as an opener as well.

Virat Kohli likely to miss upcoming T20 World Cup?

Former Indian cricket team captain and star batsman Virat Kohli’s participation in this year’s International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup has become doubtful.

According to a report filed in ‘The Telegraph’, the Indian selection panel led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar is not keen to include Virat Kohli in the squad for the T20 World Cup as the selectors and team management believe that the star batsman has failed to meet the needs of the team in T20 format.

The report further stated that BCCI has left the decision of Virat Kohli’s participation in the mega event to Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar. India has not won an ICC trophy since 2013, prompting the selectors to aim for big and bold decisions for the upcoming ICC event.

Virat Kohli made a comeback in the T20 team in January this year after an absence of over a year. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has already confirmed Rohit Sharma’s participation in the T20 World Cup, however, Virat Kohli’s participation is yet to be confirmed.
