‘Virat Kohli spat on me during India tour’; Dean Elgar’s startling revelation

Former South Africa batsman Dean Elgar has alleged that India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, spat on him during his first tour of the South Asian country.

Elgar, who recently retired from Test cricket, when Kohli spat at him, he too responded in kind. The former opening batsman immediately reacted and threatened to hit the then Indian captain with his bat.

Speaking in a podcast, Dean Elgar said that, “The first time I faced Kohli in India, the wickets there were a joke and was difficult to play at that level.”

When he came to the crease to bat, Elgar narrated, he had trouble playing Ashwin and Jadeja while Kohli spat at him.

“I told Virat Kohli if you keep doing this, I will hit you with this bat,” the former batsman told the host of The Boys podcast.

“However, when you play in India, you have to be a bit careful,” said the former South African batsman.

Notably, Dean Elgar came to play Test matches for the first time in 2015 on a tour of an Asian country. In the same year, Virat became the full-time captain of the Indian Test team.

India thrashes Sri Lanka to win Asia Cup title for 8th time

India won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time by defeating defending champions Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday. India easily chased down Sri Lanka’s target of just 51 runs in 6.1 overs, winning the match by 10 wickets to become Asian champions.

Shubman Gul and Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 27 runs and 23 runs respectively for India.

It should be noted that India has won the title of Asia Cup the most times.

In the final played at Wilambo, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat against India, which turned out to be the wrong decision.

The Lankan batting started with a delay due to rain, but as soon as the match started, the Sri Lankan batting line-up was decimated, with 6 wickets down for just 12 runs. Sri Lankan players could not even enter double figures, with Kaushal Mendes becoming top scorer with 17 runs. Five Sri Lankan players were bowled out for zero.

India captain Rohit Sharma said on the occasion of the toss that if his team had won the toss, they would have batted first.

Shahnawaz Dahani ne African language kyun seekhi, player reveals details

Shahnawaz Dahani, Pakistan’s ace fast-medium pacer, has opened up about a viral video featuring the cricketer on the streets of Zimbabwe, singing a famous African traditional song with local children.

Recently, the Pakistan Shaheens toured Zimbabwe for two Test matches and six One Day Internationals (ODIs), winning both test matches while Zimbabwe emerged victorious in four out of six ODI matches. These were unofficial matches held in Harare.

The most interesting part of the series was Shahnawaz Dahani’s lively moments on the streets of Zimbabwe with African kids singing their traditional songs in the African Shona language.

While speaking exclusively to “The Current Life”, Shahnawaz Dahani was asked if he loves spending time with children and the story behind the viral video, as well as how he learned the language.

“I love spending time with children as they are the future of Pakistan. They watch us and learn from us, and they have dreams just like we did in our childhood. The same goes for the Zimbabwean kids. They enjoy watching us, and we also enjoy their company,” the bowler said.

“I learned the language in just 30 days. I observed and watched them closely to understand what they were saying, and I quickly picked up the language.

My teammates were amazed at how I learned the language, and although they tried, they failed. The credit goes to me for learning the African Shona language in just 30 days,” Dhani stated.

Zimbabwean kids really like cricket and follow Pakistan, the pacer explained, adding that it motivated him to learn their language. “If you have passion, you can easily accomplish difficult and seemingly impossible things,” he remarked.

When asked how many languages Shahnawaz Dahani can speak, he replied, “I try to learn as many as I can. I love learning languages and new things. I can speak five to six languages.”
