PML-N leader claims Imran Khan’s sons taking Urdu lessons

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin had claimed weeks ago that Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan, sons of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, are learning Urdu.

“I have information that Qasim and Suleman have hired an Urdu teacher, and they are learning Urdu,” Yasin had said during a press conference held at the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) in Lahore two weeks ago.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari was also present at the press conference.

Yasin stated that “coming time” will tell why the boys, who have spent most of their lives in the UK, are learning Urdu, adding that Imran Khan’s sons are waiting for the time to “fool the nation”.

The housing minister went on to claim that Qasim and Suleman are being taught how to deliver speeches to “provoke the nation”.

Sanaullah warns Imran Khan’s sons may be arrested if they come to protest in Pakistan

In May, in a rare public appearance, Imran Khan’s sons talked about their father’s incarceration for the first time.

Qasim uploaded a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, calling for his father’s release, writing that Imran Khan had been imprisoned for 700 days and cut off from his family and even his personal physician.

Imran Khan, imprisoned since August 2023, is serving a sentence at the Adiala Jail in the £190 million corruption case and also faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the May 9, 2023, protests.

Weeks after Bilal Yasin’s presser, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan told journalists that her brother intends to lead a protest movement from jail against the 26th Constitutional Amendment from August 5, marking two years of his incarceration.

“Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Sulaiman, will first go to the United States to raise awareness about the injustices faced by their father, and then they will take part in the movement being launched in Pakistan. Imran Khan has been informed about this,” she said while speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

She added, “People must come out for themselves, for democracy, for the rule of law, and against the 26th Amendment. Anyone who cannot bear the weight of this movement should step aside now.”

BCCI refuses to attend Asian Cricket Council meeting in Dhaka

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declined to attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting scheduled for July 24, if it is held in Dhaka.

Accordign to Indian media, the board considers it unsuitable to visit Bangladesh, citing the current political situation. The BCCI had already postponed a series planned in Bangladesh this August for similar reasons.

Reports suggest that the BCCI has formally informed the ACC of its concerns and requested that the meeting venue be changed. If the venue is not shifted, the BCCI may withdraw from the meeting altogether.

Meanwhile, three alternative venues have reportedly been shortlisted as backups for the Asia Cup. The BCCI is also awaiting guidance from the Indian government. Uncertainty surrounding the Pakistan-India match has already cast a shadow over the Asia Cup’s plans.

India is the official host of this year’s Asia Cup, but the event could be moved to the UAE, as Pakistan and India had previously agreed to a hybrid model ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Asia Cup is set to begin on September 5, with the high-profile Pakistan vs India match scheduled for September 7.

  • Humaira Asghar’s family finally agrees to claim her body

Humaira Asghar’s family finally agrees to claim her body

The family of actor Humaira Asghar Ali, who was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI on Tuesday, will arrive from Lahore today to claim her body.

According to police officials, Humaira’s body was discovered in her flat in Ittehad Commercial, after a local court ordered the police to vacate the apartment due to unpaid rent. DIG South Syed Asad Raza confirmed that police knocked on the door at around 3:15 pm but received no response. They then broke the lock and found her body inside, already in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The Crime Scene Unit collected evidence from the flat, and her body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

Dr Summaiya Syed, police surgeon, confirmed that the body was badly decomposed and the exact cause of death could not be determined immediately. She estimated that Humaira had died at least two weeks before she was found.

SSP South Mehzor Ali said Humaira had been living alone in the flat for about seven years. She rented it in 2018 but had not paid rent since October 2024. The Clifton Cantonment Board filed a case on behalf of the landlord, leading to the court-ordered eviction. When the bailiff arrived and found the door locked, it was broken open, and Humaira’s body was found lying on the floor in a room.

Police efforts to locate her family revealed that Humaira’s father had severed ties with her nearly two years ago. He initially refused to come to Karachi to claim her body. Police tracked her phone number through the landlord and managed to reach her father and brother, but later lost contact with them. They are now expected to arrive in Karachi today.

Humaira Asghar Ali was known for her role in the ARY reality show Tamasha Ghar and her performance in the 2015 film Jalaibee.

She had reportedly been living alone for years. Two mobile phones recovered from her apartment are being analyzed as part of the investigation. Police say they will register a case if any evidence of foul play is found, regardless of whether the family pursues the matter. The autopsy and toxicology reports are awaited as investigations continue into how she died.

Radiologist, ward staffer arrested for filming patients

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s (NCCIA) Rawalpindi Circle has arrested a radiologist and a ward staffer from Kahuta Tehsil Headquarters Hospital on charges of harassing female patients and secretly recording videos inside the hospital.

According to media reports citing officials, an internal inquiry revealed that radiologist Shakil Ahmed and ward servant Zainul Abideen abused their positions in the radiology ward by engaging in inappropriate and unethical conduct.

Officials said that Shakil Ahmed allegedly behaved inappropriately with a female patient inside the X-ray room, while Zainul Abideen secretly recorded the incident on his mobile phone.

An analysis of the electronic devices recovered from the suspects confirmed the presence of objectionable material and their involvement in producing and sharing such content.

A case has been registered against both suspects under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA) and other relevant sections of the law.

Authorities described the incident as a grave violation of public trust, a breach of medical ethics, and a misuse of government resources.

The NCCIA stated that its investigation is still ongoing.

  • Sarwat Gilani calls out Feroze Khan for promoting toxic characters on TV

Sarwat Gilani calls out Feroze Khan for promoting toxic characters on TV

Actress Sarwat Gilani is in no mood to hold back on her opinion about toxic male television characters.

In a recent appearance on the Let’s Be Real show, the outspoken star called out fellow actor Feroze Khan for consistently portraying violent and toxic characters in drama serials, accusing him of promoting harmful behavior on national airwaves.

Sarwat didn’t mince her words. She said, “In his dramas, mostly, he has been shown beating up the woman and treating her cruelly. The same woman later ends up falling in love with him. This toxic behaviour is glorified on national television.”

She believes these repeated storylines send the wrong message to viewers, especially in a society where such portrayals can normalize abuse and manipulation.

“Feroze Khan, you’re encouraging toxicity on national television, and then you have a problem with someone taking your story and presenting it on various platforms,” she remarked, pointing towards the larger cultural consequences of glorifying abusive behavior.

Sarwat also brought up the controversial moment when Feroze Khan leaked the personal phone numbers of several female celebrities, including herself, during his public divorce battle.

“There used to be an actor, but now you don’t see him much. Feroze Khan. He had leaked the phone numbers of five or six people. I was there. Sharmeen, Mera Sethi, and me. These types of characters they used to do. Slapping, kicking, shoes, talking disrespectfully. Zero values. And in the end, the girl falls in love with him. This is the problem,” she added.

She emphasized the responsibility that actors, writers, and producers carry when creating content for a wide audience. Dramas like Khaani and Ishqiya, where Feroze plays emotionally abusive and aggressive men, have been both popular and controversial, admired for their performances, yet heavily criticized for romanticizing toxic masculinity.

Sarwat wrapped up her thoughts by sharing a powerful statement made by a police officer she once heard, “Incidents like these should not discourage our daughters, but we should discourage our boys, that they should have a better environment, better upbringing, and better set of values.”

Two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots were killed after a twin-seater Jaguar fighter jet crashed during a routine training mission near Bhanoda village in Rajasthan’s Churu district on Wednesday afternoon, raising concerns about IAF’s continuous crashes.

“An IAF Jaguar Trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission and crashed near Churu in Rajasthan, today. Both pilots sustained fatal injuries in the accident. No damage to any civil property has been reported,” an Indian media outlet has reported, citing the statement issued by the IAF.

“IAF deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families in this time of grief,” the statement said, adding that a court of inquiry has been established to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The Jaguar is a twin-engine fighter-bomber in single-and twin-seat variants. It is widely used by the IAF despite its vintage status. India has an estimated 120 Jaguar fighter jets spread across six squadrons in operation.

This is the third IAF Jaguar fighter jet to crash this year, An aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Jamnagar Airfield during a night mission in April.

The IAF reported that the pilots experienced a technical malfunction mid-flight and ejected to prevent damage to the airfield and surrounding populated areas.
