Another TikToker lands in trouble; Kashif Zameer arrested from Lahore

The Crime Control Department (CCD) of Lahore Police on Wednesday arrested TikTok influencer Kashif Zameer along with 13 of his security guards for openly displaying weapons in public.

Police officials have confirmed to media outlets that CCD personnel carried out a raid in Iqbal Town and recovered firearms from Kashif Zameer and his guards. Multiple cases have been registered against him at the CCD police station.

Videos of Kashif Zameer moving around the city with heavily armed guards had recently gone viral on social media. The clips showed him and his guards brandishing guns in public places.

His arrest comes at a time when Punjab has tightened security for the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. The provincial government has enforced Section 144 from June 27 to July 6, 2025, banning the public display of weapons and flammable materials without official permission.

Under these security measures, pillion riding has also been banned during this period. However, women, senior citizens, and law enforcement officials are exempt from this restriction.

This is not the first time Kashif Zameer has landed in legal trouble. He has faced charges in fraud cases before and was also arrested in April 2025 for disrespecting the Punjab Police.

In that case, a TikTok video showed Zameer handing a tray of money to a man wearing a police uniform at a wedding. The man was later identified as driver constable Khurram Shahzad. When police booked Shahzad, Zameer tried to defend him by posting another video where the uniform was digitally replaced with a plain black shalwar kameez using artificial intelligence. Zameer claimed the police uniform had been edited into the original footage.

However, during investigation, Shahzad admitted he was indeed wearing the police uniform at the wedding. Both Zameer and Shahzad were accused of disrespecting the police and spreading false information by using AI. Charges were filed under PECA’s electronic forgery and spoofing laws, along with sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. The Punjab Prosecutor General declared the case “high profile” and ordered further inquiry into the matter.

Zameer insisted in a video that the man in the footage was actually his personal guard, not a police officer. He claimed his “enemies” used AI to edit the video, stressing that he respects the Punjab Police.

  • PDMA warns of urban flash floods from July 7

PDMA warns of urban flash floods from July 7

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an urgent notification, warning of a significant rise in major river water levels, flash flooding in hill torrents, and urban flooding in parts of Punjab from July 7, 2025 onwards.

Strong monsoon currents combined with a westerly wave are expected to hit upper catchments of Punjab’s major rivers from July 6, PDMA has predicted, increasing the risk of floods across the region. Flows in rivers and their associated nullahs and tributaries are likely to rise sharply, while metropolitan areas in North and Central Punjab could see urban flooding.

Flash flooding is also expected in the hill torrents of DG Khan Division, while landslides could cause road closures in vulnerable hilly areas like Murree and Galiyat.

Meanwhile, in Haripur, heavy rainfall has already caused streams to overflow and raised the water level at Tarbela Dam since Tuesday night, forcing the district administration to open the dam’s spillways on Wednesday to manage the excess water. Dam authorities have issued alerts to the Deputy Commissioners of Haripur, Nowshera, and Swabi districts to stay on standby.

Official PDMA Weather & Flood Situation:

    1. Weather Situation:

Met office (vide Bulletin No C-018/25) has informed that strong monsoon currents coupled with Westerly wave are likely to affect upper catchments of all the major rivers in Punjab significantly from 6th July.

    2. Flood Situation:

Flows are likely to increase significantly from July 7 in all major rivers along with their associated Nullahs/tributaries.

Flash flooding is also expected over the hill torrents of DG Khan division.

Urban flooding is likely in metropolitan cities of North and Central Punjab.

    POSSIBLE IMPACTS AND ADVICE:

Landslides may cause roads closure in the vulnerable hilly areas of Murree and Galliyat during the wet spell.

Heavy downpour/windstorm and lightning may affect daily routines, and may damage weak structures like roof/wall of Kacha houses, electric poles, bill boards, vehicles and solar panels etc during the forecast period.

Farmers are advised to manage their activities keeping in view the weather forecast.

Travelers and tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and manage their itineraries according to weather conditions and avoid any untoward situation during the wet spell.

  • Maryam Nafees says THIS matter boils her blood

Maryam Nafees says THIS matter boils her blood

Pakistani actress Mariyam Nafees has spoken up about the unsolicited and often harmful advice that many new moms still receive today.

She shared a post on her Instagram in which a mother-in-law tells her daughter-in-law not to feed her baby because her hair was wet after a shower. Opposing the advice, Mariyam said, “These kinds of stories boil my blood.”

She shared a post originally from Soul Sisters Pakistan which read: “Went to somebody’s house yesterday. The mother of a newborn baby was politely informed by the mother-in-law not to feed the baby because she took bath and her hairs were wet. The mother waited till her hairs get dry and by that time the infant went to long deep sleep with empty tummy… Me looking at the tiny baby hungry and crying felt bad… Please ACT NORMAL ACT HUMAN.”

The post also highlighted other outdated beliefs, such as: “A mother’s stomach problems can harm the baby through breast milk,

Moon eclipses cause cleft palates in babies,

Babies should not sleep in silence, and that noise like banging pots helps them.”

Dismissing the outdated advice, Mariyam strongly encouraged new moms to trust themselves. She wrote: “Read this and kinda boiled my blood. The girl here stated some legit facts.

Also, momma’s – suno sabki, karo apni. You know what’s best for your child. You’re the MOTHER. You’re God gifted when it comes to instincts.”

  • QUAD avoids blaming Pakistan for Pahlagam despite Indian push

QUAD avoids blaming Pakistan for Pahlagam despite Indian push

India’s attempt to secure a direct reference to Pakistan in a joint statement issued by Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD), the four-member group comprising of the United States, India, Japan, and Australia on the April 22 Pahalgam attack fell short, as the alliance condemned the incident but refrained from naming any country.

The foreign ministers of QUAD met in Washington, D.C. on June 25, 2025 and issued a statement denouncing the attack in Pahalgam, located in Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including one Nepali national.

India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of orchestrating the incident, alleging financial and logistical support. However, despite repeated requests from Pakistan, India has not made any evidence public. The joint statement, released through the U.S. State Department, stopped short of naming Pakistan and instead referred more generally to “cross-border terrorism.”

“The terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, is condemned in the strongest terms. We demand prompt justice for the individuals responsible, as well as those who orchestrated and funded this act,” the statement said.

Pakistan has rejected India’s allegations and called for an independent and impartial investigation into the matter. QUAD’s statement urged UN member states to cooperate with relevant authorities under international law and existing UN Security Council resolutions but avoided attributing blame.

The statement further added: “We unequivocally condemn all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism, and reaffirm our commitment to counterterrorism cooperation.”

The meeting was attended by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya.

Following the Pahalgam attack, tensions escalated between India and Pakistan. On May 7, the Indian Air Force launched airstrikes on civilian areas inside Pakistan, claiming to target militant infrastructure. Pakistan responded by downing several Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales. The exchange of fire between both sides continued for days, leading to military and civilian casualties and fears of an all-out war between the two nuclear-armed nations.

While India sought stronger language and an explicit reference to Pakistan, the final QUAD statement maintained a broader diplomatic tone, yet another blow to India’s diplomatic efforts to isolate Pakistan.

  • Barrister Saif tells Junaid Akbar to step aside instead of complaining about Gandapur

Barrister Saif tells Junaid Akbar to step aside instead of complaining about Gandapur

Another rift has emerged within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), this time in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter of the party after a war of words between provincial president Junaid Akbar Khan and government spokesperson Barrister Saif.

The rift began when Junaid Akbar Khan strongly criticised Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur, alleging that the provincial government was not cooperating with him.

“Chief Minister Ali Amin is taking action against my supporters, and development schemes of MPAs organising rallies for me have been cancelled,” he claimed.

Akbar also alleged that Barrister Saif is not just representing the narrative of the establishment but also spreading it.

Speaking to journalists in Mardan, Saif pounced back at the party’s president, saying, “Junaid Akbar should stop whining and stay at home,” adding that Akbar should resign from the party presidency and a competent person should be made president of PTI Pakhtunkhwa.

Barrister Saif said that Akbar was not fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by PTI founder Imran Khan, which was why he was under stress, noting that “those who work do not need to resort to making accusations”.

He emphasised the party was going through a difficult time and, in such circumstances, Akbar should step aside instead of crying and complaining. “Everything has a limit and these people have crossed all limits,” he stated.

Saif advised Akbar to sit down and resolve his issues with Ali Amin Gandapur within the party, adding, there was no justification for criticising the Chief Minister.

The government spokesperson also lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam, saying that if he thought his brother could become the chief minister, it was wishful thinking.

He ruled out claims that the KP government was under threat, underscoring that all Member Provincial Assembly (MPAs) were united, and the government would complete its constitutional term.

Commenting on last week’s Swat tragedy, which claimed at least 10 lives, Saif said that a probe into the incident is underway, stressing that whoever was found responsible would be punished.

  • Get Rs1,000 for 20 plastic bottles: Lahore’s new recycling machines offer green credits

Get Rs1,000 for 20 plastic bottles: Lahore’s new recycling machines offer green credits

People in Lahore can now help the environment and earn monetary rewards by recycling plastic bottles under a new eco-friendly project.

Launched under the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Credit Program, the initiative allows citizens to deposit empty plastic bottles into Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) and earn up to Rs1,000 in “Green Credit” for each kilogram of plastic. That is roughly equal to about 20 one-and-a-half-litre bottles.

The project is led by ISP Environmental Solutions with support from the Intratech Group and the World Bank and aims to tackle Lahore’s plastic pollution problem by encouraging people to recycle through financial rewards.

Lahore reportedly generates around 500 tons of plastic waste every day, much of which ends up polluting drains, rivers and landfills. According to Intratech Group Chairperson Gulfam Abid, “These new Reverse Vending Machines will collect single-use plastic items, including bottles, cups and plates. The collected material will be repurposed into raw materials for footpaths, road repairs and environmentally sustainable bricks.”

Each RVM can hold up to 25 kilograms of plastic and uses weight-sensitive sensors that reject non-plastic materials. The process is simple: users insert their bottles, press button “A,” enter their mobile number, and then press button “B” to see their Green Credit on the screen. They can also check their balance on a mobile app that connects them directly with waste dealers.

The app allows citizens to sell their plastic waste from home, with company staff managing the collection. So far, more than 18,000 local scrap dealers have joined the system and can earn Green Credit alongside their regular income.

In the first stage, these smart recycling machines are being installed at four private universities in Lahore. The plan is to expand to more public and private locations in the coming months.

The machines are locally made in Pakistan using advanced Chinese technology and each unit costs about Rs800,000. An “Eco Bricks Plant” has also been set up at Sundar Industrial Estate to turn the collected plastic into construction-grade bricks. The plant is expected to open in July.

Officials say this project is not just about the machines but about changing how people think about plastic waste. “We want people to view plastic not as waste, but as a valuable resource that can be reused for environmental and economic gain,” one official said.

For many citizens, this initiative could mean earning a little extra while helping keep the city clean and turning plastic bottles into cash instead of trash.

  • Probable dates for Pakistan-India Asia Cup 2025 matches revealed

Probable dates for Pakistan-India Asia Cup 2025 matches revealed

This year’s Asia Cup could see arch-rivals India and Pakistan face each other at least twice if things go according to plan.

According to Indian media reports, the Asia Cup is likely to begin around September 4 or 5, with the high-voltage group stage match between India and Pakistan expected to take place on September 7 in Dubai. If both teams qualify for the Super Four stage, they could meet again on September 14.

Indian media outlets have also reported that although India is the official host for the tournament, the matches will likely be played at a neutral venue, with the UAE emerging as the strongest option. The Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format this time, and the final is expected to be held on September 21.

The tournament will feature six teams: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the UAE.

Pakistani sports journalist Faizan Lakhani shared his take on the changing narrative in Indian media. He wrote, “From reporting that India is pulling out of the Asia Cup, to declaring that the tournament will proceed without Pakistan, to reports that BCCI will request the ICC to separate India and Pakistan groups in future events, the Indian media has now started to report the possible date of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup clash!”

He added, “According to SportsTak (the same website that reported the Champions Trophy was being moved to South Africa), the India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup will happen on September 7th.”

However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

  • Pakistan’s top PUBG Mobile team 4Thrives seeks sponsor for Esports World Cup

Pakistan’s top PUBG Mobile team 4Thrives seeks sponsor for Esports World Cup

4Thrives Esports, one of the top-performing teams in Pakistan’s competitive PUBG Mobile circuit, is currently in search of a sponsor to support their journey ahead.

4Thrives Esports was formed in December 2024 and has quickly become a powerhouse in South Asian PUBG Mobile. They have gained a following in Pakistan as well as across the region for their aggressive gameplay, smart roster changes, and consistent results.

Recently, the team made history by becoming the first Pakistani PUBG Mobile squad to qualify for the Esports World Cup 2025. They secured this spot by finishing as the second runner-up in the PMSL CSA Spring 2025, competing against some of the best teams from Central and South Asia. This strong performance also puts in a position to qualify for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC), which has a prize pool of $3,000,000.

The current lineup includes FALAK, IQ, NOCKi, CAIRO, and T20 OP. FALAK, IQ, and NOCKi joined from i8 Esports, while T20 OP came from Seventh Element.

These players have reached this level without any sponsorship. Unlike many top esports teams backed by major companies, 4Thrives has climbed to the top through talent, dedication, and teamwork.

The players are now hoping to find a sponsor who can help them prepare better and represent Pakistan on the global stage. A sponsor would help cover travel, training and other expenses, allowing these young players to focus on their game.

The Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh will be one of the biggest gaming events in history, with a total prize pool of over $70,000,000. For PUBG Mobile alone, there will be $2,000,000 up for grabs, and the competition will be fierce with the best teams from every region taking part.
