Cop accuses inspector of sexual exploitation after leave request

A police constable has accused his senior officer of sexually exploiting him after he requested leave, media outlets reported on Monday.

According to reports, the constable later lodged a complaint on the Citizens Portal, alleging that an inspector posted at the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) office in Lahore sexually assaulted him when he approached him for leave.

He reportedly claimed that after turning down his request, the inspector urged him to remain silent, saying, “Such things often happen.” The constable is now calling for legal action against the officer.

This incident comes months after a uniformed policeman was caught raping a woman who had been begging in Lahore’s Manawan area.

When confronted by a citizen named Sajid, who was also filming him, the officer threw a shoe at him before opening fire. The bullet struck Sajid in the leg, and in the video, he can be heard screaming before showing his bleeding leg on camera.

Locals overpowered the officer and handed him over to Manawan police, while Sajid was taken to hospital for treatment.

Despite his injury, Sajid continued to follow the policeman, who attempted to put on his shoes and flee the scene.

Sweeper stitches wounds as emergency staff goes absent at Pattoki Hospital

Severe negligence at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Pattoki has come to light, where emergency staff were absent, and a sweeper performed medical procedures.

The incident gained attention after a video surfaced showing the sweeper stitching a patient’s wounds and providing first aid.

A resident reported that the sweeper, Abid, regularly performs medical duties in the emergency unit since there is a lack of competent staff.

Additionally, reports highlight a serious medication shortage that prevents patients from receiving the care they need.

Staff absence has been a common problem, according to sources. Concerns over hospital administration and control have been raised by the camera footage, which shows a wounded woman receiving sutures from the sweeper.

The hospital in Pattoki is facing several operational issues, such as the lack of necessary medications and suspected financial mismanagement.

Residents in the area claim that the funds allotted for medical treatment are not being used efficiently. Shortage of funding and experienced staff have resulted in patients frequently struggling to receive even the most basic medical care.

Frequent complaints have brought ongoing issues in the hospital’s management to light. Concerns over patient safety continue to grow, and visitors report difficulty accessing essential treatments.

To address the hospital’s deteriorating state, locals have called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to intervene, conduct a thorough investigation, and implement necessary reforms.

Teenaged girl dies after jumping from Karachi apartment building

A young girl tragically fell to her death from the window of an eighth-floor apartment in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.

16-year-old Anadiya was found dead on the street below the Sky Blue Apartments, located close to Isa Laboratory. A Chhipa ambulance transported her body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Anadiya’s father, Muhammad Iqbal, who works in the private sector, has one son and four daughters. His youngest children are twins, with Anadiya being the younger of the two.

The family claims that Anadiya was undergoing therapy at a private facility for mental health problems.

Additionally, she had recently become more religiously inclined. Anadiya and her twin sister, Maryam, were at home when the tragedy occurred while their parents and two sisters had gone shopping. According to initial reports, Anadiya jumped from the eighth floor while standing near the window.

According to the police, Maryam was too devastated by her sister’s passing to make a statement, and their parents were similarly in shock. Their statements will be recorded once the family is stable.

Certain aspects of the incident, however, have already raised concerns, even though the police believe Anadiya’s death may have been intentional.

She allegedly jumped from a tiny window, which may have made it difficult for her to get through. Furthermore, her body was not found directly below the window as expected but was discovered at a considerable distance from the building.

Investigators believe these details will become clearer after speaking to the family. For now, the body has been handed over to the family following standard procedures.

Karachi court dismisses drug case against late Mustafa Amir

A local court in Karachi has dismissed a drug-related case against the late student Mustafa Amir following the submission of a statement of the Station House Officer (SHO) Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) Korangi, confirming his death.

The SHO informed the court that in the drug case, Mustafa Amir’s name was recorded as Amir, also known as (aka) Taimoor, son of Aamir Shuja, who had passed away.

The court dismissed the case against Amir after reviewing the death certificate and other relevant documents of the deceased, along with the statement of the SHO.

However, the court has once again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for proclaimed offenders Ammar Hameed and Faisal Yaqoob in the same case.

On February 22, Amir’s arrest warrant was issued. The case against Amir and the other accused was registered in 2024. With his case is now closed, authorities continue efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.

On January 6, Mustafa Amir, 23, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student, went missing from Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

It took the police 39 days to determine that he had been murdered. His burned body was later discovered in Balochistan.

On February 8, an acquaintance of the victim, Armaghan, was apprehended after a dramatic four-hour standoff, during which he opened fire on police, injuring a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a constable.

The case exposed links to an alleged drug network, particularly involving the cannabis trade, in which both the suspect and victim were reportedly engaged. The investigation led to a police crackdown, resulting in the arrest of several individuals, including renowned actor Sajid Hassan’s son, Sarim Hassan.

Speaking to reporters last month, Sajid Hassan expressed his grief over the incident, saying, “The murder is a heartbreaking tragedy, and I express my sympathy to Mustafa Amir’s family.”

“Since I heard Mustafa’s mother’s message, I have been unable to sleep. Mustafa was like my own son,” he said.

He emphasised that he wants justice for all those affected by the case, noting, “I only want justice to be done, not only for my son but for all the families connected to this case.”

Sajid Hassan also voiced his concerns over his son’s treatment by the media and the public. “My son has been declared guilty before the investigation is complete. I am not defending his actions, but I am only demanding a fair legal process,” he added.

  • Woman jumps off balcony after drug raid

Woman jumps off balcony after drug raid

A woman reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth-floor apartment in Khayaban-e-Muslim Commercial Area in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6.

According to the information, the woman fell onto the street after jumping out of her apartment window. She lost consciousness after suffering severe injuries. She was taken to Jinnah Hospital by Edhi Ambulance after rescue workers were contacted right away. But when the physicians arrived, they verified that she had already passed away from her wounds.

The dead was identified as 40-year-old Afshan, Rasheed’s daughter, by the Karachi Police spokesperson. In order to determine the precise circumstances behind her suicide, the police have opened an investigation.

The tragic incident occurred when law enforcement officers raided the building to arrest suspected drug traffickers, according to police sources.  It is believed that upon learning about the police raid, the woman panicked and attempted to escape, which led to her jumping from the fourth floor.

According to the police, intelligence reports  and the identification of a drug dealer served as the foundation for their raid. Authorities reportedly discovered narcotics and drug-use paraphernalia  in the deceased woman’s residence. This suggests that she participated in drug-related actions, such as facilitating drug usage in her house.

While initial reports point to suicide, authorities are looking into every possibility, including if she jumped because she was afraid, under pressure, or for another reason. To obtain further information, the authorities will additionally investigate others connected to her.

The event has sparked worries about the growing number of drug-related incidents in residential neighborhoods as well as the larger socioeconomic problems that give rise to such drastic measures. The investigation is still going on and authorities have promised to provide more information as the inquiry progresses.
