    Robber tricks man with fake bomb, loots his home in Lahore

    A unique incident of robbery has taken place in Lahore, where a robber tricked a man with a fake bomb and looted his home.

    According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at the Shalimar Police Station on Monday, the complainant, Syed Hassan Shahzad, stated that the incident occurred on Saturday while he was on his way to work near Setha Bagicha Wala.

    “A man stopped me at Setha Bagicha Wala, asking for an address. When I told him I didn’t know, he suddenly placed a box-shaped device in my pocket and claimed it was a remote-controlled bomb which he could detonate at any time. He told me to silently let go of my home and hand over my valuables,” the FIR reads.

    The FIR further noted that upon reaching his home, the complainant gave the robber two tolas of gold, including a nose ring, earrings, studs, and four rings. He also handed over cash amounting to PKR 66,870, along with a wallet containing his ATM card, ID card, and job card.

    “The CCTV footage of the street has also been attached with the application,” stated the FIR, urging the police to initiate an inquiry against the robber.

    A 13-year-old boy, Muhammad Zaki, was allegedly shot dead by a farmer, Muhammad Tariq, for bathing at his tubewell in Chak 429/EB, within the Sheikh Fazil Police limits in Burewala, Vehari district.

    According to police spokesperson Adnan Tariq, Irshad Ahmed Butt filed an FIR, stating that his grandson Zaki had accompanied him to the tubewell. While some boys were bathing there, Zaki stood nearby. The farmer allegedly arrived, shouted at the boys for using his tubewell, and then opened fire, injuring Zaki.

    The boy was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Burewala, where he later died. The police arrested the suspect three hours after the incident.

    Wanted criminal killed in shootout 

    A robber, Ghulam Mustafa, reportedly involved in over 50 criminal cases, was killed, and a police constable was injured in an exchange of fire near Khairpur Tamewali, police said.

    Mustafa and two accomplices had allegedly snatched a motorcycle from a man named Rizwan and fled. Police cordoned off the area, followed by a shootout. Constable Muhammad Amin sustained serious injuries, while Mustafa was found dead after the firing stopped.

    Police believe Mustafa was shot by his own accomplices. His body was shifted to THQ Hospital, and a case has been registered against the two suspects who fled.


    Undentified man found dead on Tezgam Express

    The hanging body of an unidentified man was found in the toilet of the Tezgam Express train at Lahore Railway Station.

    The train was reportedly travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi when passengers discovered the body, believed to be that of a 60 to 70-year-old man. Railway police found no signs of violence and have moved the body to the morgue. Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.

    In a shocking incident in Muzaffargarh, an eight-month pregnant woman was subjected to severe torture by her husband, son and in-laws, leaving her critically injured with broken legs and arms.

    As per the details, the assault took place in the Mouza Basti Arif area of Jatoi tehsil where the woman was allegedly assaulted by her husband and in-laws with sticks, iron rods and axes. The accused, reports said, later threw the woman out of their house and on the road.

    With locals informing the police, rescue personnel rushed the critically injured woman to a hospital for medical attention.

    In her statement to the police, the victim revealed that she was subjected to the inhumane treatment over suspicions regarding her character.

    Police have filed a complaint against five, including the woman’s husband, father-in-law, brother-in-law and son, at the Jatoi police station despite the victim’s family initially refusing to seek legal action.

    Police officials said that they were currently conducting raids in the area to apprehend the accused involved in this act of brutal violence.

    A man has allegedly been lynched after multiple workers of a religiopolitical party stormed a place of worship belonging to the Ahmadi community in Karachi’s Saddar area to stop them from performing religious rituals, reports quoted police as saying.

    According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Syed Asad Raza, around 400 Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers gathered at the Saddar Mobile Market near the British-era Ahmadiyya Hall.

    In wake of similar incidents in the Shah Latif, Surjani and Khokhrapar areas of the port city, the DIG said, police were already deployed at the site, adding that police, rangers and district administration acted swiftly and provided protection to the Ahmadi community members present inside the worship place. 

    However, a man was allegedly beaten up by the TLP workers and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, the DIG said. He added that the Ahmadi community claimed the deceased was their member and was associated with the place of worship.

    “The police are ascertaining the veracity of the claims while CCTV footage is also being obtained.”

    Meanwhile, Preedy Station House Officer (SHO) Shabbir Husain told the newspaper that a man, identified as Laeeq Cheema, 46, was filming the TLP workers near Hashu Centre when the mob assaulted and killed him, confirming that the deceased belonged to the Ahmadi community.

    Husain claimed that around 45-50 members of the community were inside the worship place and the police had summoned a prison van to move them to a safer place.

    Speaking to the newspaper, community spokesperson Amir Mehmood said that the deceased was passing through the area around 100-150 meters away from the place of worship, noting that the deceased was a known figure of their community. “Therefore, the TLP members recognised and began beating him, leading to his death.”

    A man has reportedly been killed in a shooting at a foreign food chain outlet in Sheikhupura, while the attacker managed to escape.

    According to a media report, the unidentified attacker entered the restaurant and opened fire on a man working in the kitchen of the eatery.

    The deceased has been identified as Asif Nawaz, son of Muhammad Nawaz, the media report quoted a police source as saying.

    District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Zafar Sheikh said that the motorcycle-borne assailant fled the crime scene after the shooting. Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the scene, and an investigation is underway.

    “A contingent of police was deployed to the spot. Police forensic experts have collected evidence from the crime scene,” the DPO said.

    A 17-year-old girl in Muzaffargarh has reportedly commited suicide after she became pregnant while being sexually assaulted by her relatives, an English newspaper has reported. 


    The FIR states that the girl had told her father and elder sister that she was raped two months ago by her cousin and uncle; an attack that left her pregnant. 

    Her father said that the pregnancy led to his daughter committing suicide. Her body was discovered around 4 pm by the family. 

    Police have confirmed that both the men named by the teenager have been arrested while an investigation is underway.

    In a bizarre twist, the “bomb” placed in a house in Punjab’s Bahawalpur district for Rs2 million ransom turned out to be fake, as the device was actually filled with sand.

    Media reports quoted police officials as saying that one Munawar, who works in construction in the Government Cooperative Housing Colony area of the city, received an anonymous letter that a “bomb” had been placed inside his house.

    The letter, police said, was also a ransom note as it included unidentified persons’ demand of Rs2 million in the name of Taliban. The letter further instructed that ransom be paid through a domestic worker.

    After receiving information about the bomb, officials said, all relevant departments, including police, Civil Defence and Bomb Disposal Squad, were mobilised. However, upon inspection of the device, the bomb turned out to be fake as it had no explosive material.

    According to police, it was filled only with sand and had a digital screen attached to it.

    Law enforcement agencies have taken the fake bomb into custody and launched further investigation, reports said.

    A 17-year-old boy was killed in Lahore’s Liaqatabad area on Thursday following a domestic altercation. 

    Police said that the suspect, Fayyaz, got into a verbal dispute with his wife at their home. 

    The wife allegedly summoned her brothers to the residence during the argument.

    Bilal, one of her brothers, asked Fayyaz what had caused the disagreement. 

    Fayyaz reportedly used a knife to stab Bilal in retaliation. According to initial police reports, Bilal died immediately after suffering several stab wounds.

    After the incident, Fayyaz, who works as a butcher, fled the scene immediately. Teams have been organized to apprehend the accused, according to police, who have started a search operation.

    Bilal’s body was sent to a local hospital for autopsy. 

    Police said that they are conducting an investigation and are gathering testimonies from potential witnesses and family members.

    Women strangle Multan faith healer after years of blackmail

    Two women have been arrested for murder after strangling a Pakistani faith healer with a scarf after years of being blackmailed over videos he took of them, police said on Monday.

    The women told police they had turned to Riaz Hussain for help in removing black magic curses but he instead took compromising videos that he threatened to release.

    “During the investigation it was found that Riaz Hussain had been sexually harassing women for a long time under the pretext of spiritual healing,” police in the city of Multan in Punjab province said in a statement.

    The women, with the help of their cousin and another man, strangled the faith healer with a scarf before dumping his body.

    The four have been arrested for murder, police said, adding that a fifth man has also been arrested.

    Faith healers are revered by some communities in Pakistan and their orders are followed devotedly, allowing for widespread exploitation.

    A pregnant woman was brought to a hospital with a nail hammered into her head in 2022 after a faith healer said it would guarantee she gave birth to a boy.

     

    Another woman died the following year after being tortured with sticks for days by a faith healer who claimed to be following an exorcism ritual.

    Five people have been arrested by local police in Multan district for murdering a pir who was sextorting women through videos that he possessed. 

    Sextorting is the act of using intimate or confidential materials to blackmail someone for money or sexual favours. 

    Riaz Hussain, 50, was strangled to death after being called to a house on the pretext of carrying out spiritual practices. His body was discovered two days later near the Chah Yousaf area after his son filed an FIR. 

    During investigation it was found that Riaz Hussain had been sexually harassing women for a long time under the guise of spiritual healing and making amulets (taweez). 

    The two women at the centre of the case, Shehnaz Bibi and Aasiya Bibi, told the police that not only did he harass them, but also blackmailed them after filming videos.

    When he asked for a large amount of money and threatened to make the videos go viral, both the women told Mohammad Nadir and their cousin Mohammad Jamil. 

    The suspects then called Riaz to the house to provide them with an amulet, from where they took him to Chak 184-M, checked his phone and found the videos on it. 

    Then they strangled him to death. 

    Mohammad Nadir, Mohammad Jamil, Aasiya Bibi, Shehbaz Bibi and another relative Aamir, who drove the car in which the body was disposed, have been arrested.

    A five -member team police investigation team used the latest technology, geo-fencing, and CDR to find the killers. 

    CPO Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar said in a press conference that the murder was a very complicated case. Initially there were no clues. However, using remarkable professional expertise, dedication and the latest investigative means, the Multan police have successfully resolved the case.
