  • Saba Qamar rises as the star of the year with new upcoming drama

Saba Qamar rises as the star of the year with new upcoming drama

Can anyone stop Saba Qamar? With two concurrently running super hits, Pamaal and Case No.9, Hum Entertainment has revealed the teaser of her new drama, Muamma.

The teaser shows Jahan Ara (Saba Qamar),  as someone who is in love with Ali Ansari’s character, and looks like a story of obsessive love.

Saba took to Instagram stories to share the teaser, saying that, “this is a side of me I’ve never shown before,” in a “mysterious calculator and addictive” drama. She says that her character Jahan Ara lives in the ‘thrill of her own mind’, revealing that the character is complicated and calculated.

The teaser starts off with Jahan Ara holding a rose and walking down the stairs with Saba’s voice saying, “Zindagi guzarne mai aur Muhabbat karne mai zaida mushkil kya hai,”.

We then see scenes of Ali Ansari’s character getting ready and fighting with another woman, as Saba’s voice continues, “magar yeh kumbakht muhabbat na jeenay deyti hai na marne.”

Fans are already loving the teaser, lauding Qamar for being an actor that can play so many different roles and at the same time, saying that she is the reason why people watch dramas and can’t wait for the new drama she’s about to show them. She promised another fan that they would love the drama and thanked her fans for the love she was getting.

Qamar was always one of Pakistan’s most loved actors but she has truly risen in the past year with two super hit dramas and one on the way. She plays a rape survivor in Case No.9 and in Pamaal she plays an emotional abused and battered wife, who finally finds her way through.

Qamar chooses dramas that made a social and dramatic impact and in Muamma, it seems like she is playing the villain and there is no one who could make such a drastic impact.

  • Money, obsession, and toxic love: Why Meri Zindagi Hai Tu gets it wrong

Money, obsession, and toxic love: Why Meri Zindagi Hai Tu gets it wrong

Let’s just get to the point. Stalking is stalking and romanticising it is not okay. Yes, Kamiyar (Bilal Abbas) is the hero, and yes, love between Kamiyar and Ayra (Hania Aamir) is what we all expect – and want – but not like this. It’s time, Pakistani drama industry stop selling crazy, stalker, rich men as the goal for the good, strong, independent girl. With dramas like Case No.9, Pamaal, and Jama Taqseem, we know that it’s possible to get ratings and views and not make girls want the actually bad, crazy guy.

Episode six of Meri Zindagi Hai Tu this week showed puppy dog Kamiyar who would set his own million dollar car on fire if Ayra wanted it. Ayra is no less. The guy is hanging out outside her house like a crazy stalker in the night, and instead of being scared, her solution is to go out with him ‘to make him understand that she doesn’t want him’. I mean, who in the world thinks this is a good idea except her friend who knows that Ayra is secretly into this guy?

And then in comes Kamiyar’s friend Faria (Vardah Aziz) who is also into him although he treats her like crap. And again, we do not go for guys that treat women like they are trash which is exactly what Kamiyar does with Faria. He only wants Ayra because Ayra rejects him, slaps him, berates him and that’s creepy enough on its own.

Here is the dead honest truth: It’s the money isn’t it? The “only son of a super loaded, cybertruck-owning, huge mansion, doesn’t have to work for a living, doesn’t give a crap about his parents, and hello, buys things for above market value” lust that is doing it for this drama that instead of telling Ayra to run for her life, people are rooting for them to get together.

Would they do the same if a ordinary guy was going around lighting cars on fire and sitting outside houses staring at windows? Highly doubt it.

As money still reigns supreme for this Pakistani drama, nothing much is expected as Kamiyar helps resolve Ayra’s sisters marriage issues to win her favour, and writes down a list of things she wants him to change about himself – already a really bad warning sign when someone wants you to change something about themselves.

Ayra gives him a long list and he lovingly writes it down because Kamiyar is now going to become the non-smoking, office going, family loving boy that Ayra wants him to be, only so he can get together with her.

Only in dramas. And this one would’ve likely not done so well had it not been for the star couple. We’ll keep watching it for Haniya and Bilal but don’t expect much from the storyline.

Ducky Bhai finally gets bail in gambling app promotion case

YouTuber Saad Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, has finally secured bail from the Lahore High Court in a case related to the promotion of gambling applications.

The court approved his bail on a surety of ten lakh rupees. Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry delivered the verdict, with Rehman’s lawyers, Imran Chadhar and Shehriyar Goraya, present in court.

The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore at midnight on August 17 under sections 13 (Electronic Forgery), 14 (Electronic Fraud), 25 (Spamming), and 26 (Spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, read with sections 294B (Offering prize in connection with trade) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the FIR, the inquiry began on June 13 after information from reliable sources suggested that several YouTubers and social media influencers were promoting gambling and betting applications to the public for monetary gain.

Rehman allegedly promoted apps including Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game on his YouTube channel, causing viewers to invest their money and suffer financial losses.

The FIR included 27 video links from Rehman’s account that allegedly advertised these apps, though several videos are no longer available.

Rehman had previously applied for bail in the district and sessions court and before a judicial magistrate, but his applications were rejected, prompting him to approach the high court.

He had argued that he was never served any notice by the NCCIA before his arrest.

Earlier this month, the court issued notices to the NCCIA to submit arguments regarding Rehman’s application. In a related development at the end of October, nine NCCIA officers were booked for allegedly misusing their authority, extorting money from Rehman, and taking bribes.

  • Farhan Saeed slams ‘Tich Button’ cast, says he would never work with them again

Farhan Saeed slams ‘Tich Button’ cast, says he would never work with them again

Singer and actor Farhan Saeed recently opened up about his experience working on the film Tich Button, saying he would never work with the cast again.

During an appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Farhan said, “When you connect with a project, if you are not sincere with it or with the team, or if you have issues with it, it becomes unsuccessful. Iman didn’t have any issues with the project, but it was the wrong casting altogether. We made a film, it was a success, but it was difficult.”

Farhan didn’t mince any words. “There were unprofessional people involved. They will hear it and mind it, but that’s the truth. When I sign a project, I give my hundred percent. These are old-school, 90s-style things, being late on set, throwing tantrums. It’s obvious from their career graphs how they are progressing. We conducted screen tests for the actors, but they had a few issues,” he said.

He added, “After the shoot, problems started to arise. The shoot itself was difficult, especially in Nankana Sahib in minus 2 degrees. I can only give room to Iman here, she had MS and collapses in winter, but she was a star in her own right. She wanted PC-level protocols, which isn’t always possible, but I give full credit to Qavi Sahab, Gul-e-Rana, Sohail Sahab, Samia Mumtaz, and Raahila Agha. They were amazing and dedicated people. I learned a lot. I would change many things about the film, casting and many other aspects. But for newbies, it wasn’t that bad.”

Farhan also joked that the Button got Tiched, admitting that there were multiple issues in the project and adding, “If given a chance I won’t ever sign the cast I worked with.”

The film was supposed to release at the end of 2019 but got delayed many times. It starred Farhan Saeed, Sonya Hussyn, Feroze Khan, and Iman Ali and finally came out in November 2022, but it did not do well at the box office.

Farhan Saeed first rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Jal and later gained immense popularity with the Ramzan comedy series Suno Chanda.

His other notable dramas include Udaari, Prem Gali, Mere Humsafar, and Shirin Farhad.

  • Doctor Nabiha reveals she considered divorce immediately after marriage

Doctor Nabiha reveals she considered divorce immediately after marriage

Clinical psychologist and social media influencer Nabiha Ali Khan recently shared that she thought about divorcing her husband Haris Khokhar right after their wedding due to overwhelming criticism.

Nabiha married her close friend Haris Khokhar in a private ceremony at the residence of Maulana Tariq Jameel, who personally conducted the Nikah. Photos and videos from the event quickly went viral on social media.

Speaking on a private news show, Nabiha said, “This was the worst time of my life. I never imagined I would face so much pressure and public scrutiny.” She added, “At one point, I even considered taking a divorce because the criticism was affecting my mental health.”

The couple received heavy attention after sharing details about the wedding, including the bridal outfit and jewelry.

Nabiha revealed, “My off-white outfit, designed by Hina Salman, cost around Rs1 crore, and my jewelry was valued at approximately Rs1.5 crore, taking the total cost for my bridal look over Rs2 crore.”

Haris complemented her in an off-white sherwani, creating a coordinated appearance.

The event was attended by a small group of guests, including prominent personalities like Farah Iqrar.

Nabiha has faced criticism for multiple reasons.

Many people questioned the extravagance of her wedding, saying she often gives advice to women about modesty and restraint, yet spent Rs1.5 crore on jewellery and Rs1 crore on her bridal dress for the Nikah.

She also faced backlash for her remarks about women’s bodies, saying, “A man has the right to look at a beautiful woman’s body. Pakistani women gain weight after marriage, so what will their husbands see? Men want beauty. If a man looks at Nora Fatehi, it is not his fault, it is the fault of women here because our body structures do not match hers.”

  • Atif Aslam breaks silence on claims he charges huge fees for interviews

Atif Aslam breaks silence on claims he charges huge fees for interviews

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam enjoys massive popularity on social media, but the superstar is also often accused of demanding  heavy fees for interviews.

Recently, Atif sat down with a journalist for a detailed conversation about his career, personal life and stardom.

During the interview, the host asked him about the common perception that he charges a big amount to appear on shows.

Atif replied, “I have reached a point where I know I do not need to sit on every show. If someone says I take a heavy fee, it clearly means they want me on their show and maybe they want the world to notice them too.”

He added, “Allah has blessed me with so much respect. Sometimes my schedule is too packed and I really cannot go. Still people say things about me and I know exactly what they are referring to. I am not apologetic about it and I do not want to respond to it.”

Talking about the industry, Atif said, “I know everyone very well. They stay nice only until their show or interview is done. It is not always arrogance. Arrogance does not suit a human being.”

Speaking about success, Atif said, “I learned to conquer the world at the age of 18 and I did it. I have amazing fans. When you climb the ladder of success you have certain goals. When you achieve all of them, you realise it is nothing.”

He continued, “There came a time in my life when I realised that nothing will ever be enough. You have to stop somewhere or you will keep running and never enjoy what you achieved.”

Atif said he eventually reached a point in life where he understood that constant running would never be enough. “You have to stop at some point. Otherwise, you will stay trapped in the race and never enjoy what you earned,” he remarked.

It is worth mentioning that Tabish Hashmi once revealed on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast that some celebrities demand as much as one crore rupees for appearances.

Nida Yasir also advised Atif on Tabish’s show to reduce his fee and visit her morning show, with both hosts even discussing a joint venture to bring him on screen.

Rahman, a Lahore-based jewellery designer with nearly a decade in the industry, has recently gained momentum overseas.

Her pieces have been worn by writer Fariha Róisín, Charli XCX, Hanni from K-pop group NewJeans, and a growing list of artists drawn to her signature mix of grit and delicacy.

Singers such as Ali Sethi and Arooj Aftab often sport her pieces during performances.

  • World Children’s Day: UNICEF, Bilal Maqsood unveil ‘Bachpan Bemisaal’ to champion Early Childhood Development

World Children’s Day: UNICEF, Bilal Maqsood unveil ‘Bachpan Bemisaal’ to champion Early Childhood Development

UNICEF and celebrated artist Bilal Maqsood have launched Bachpan Bemisaal, a powerful new series that champions Early Childhood Development (ECD) – the foundation of every child’s health, learning and wellbeing through storytelling and music – on World Children’s Day.

Jointly conceived by Bilal Maqsood and UNICEF, Bachpan Bemisaal is a four-part series under the Pakkay Dost banner that brings science to life through relatable characters and stories, heartfelt songs and local humour. The episodes focus on how responsive caregiving, love, nutrition, hygiene, play and early stimulation build stronger brains.

Created to reach millions of parents, teachers, community educators and young audiences, the series provides practical, evidence-based guidance in an entertaining way, proving that nurturing care doesn’t require wealth, only awareness and intention.

“Bachpan Bemisaal is about changing how we see childhood,” Maqsood said, adding that every child deserves love, play and attention, and if it is given to them that early, the impact lasts for generations.

“Child rights are not abstract principles. They are lived realities. They are present when a child is safe, healthy, learning and loved, and they are missing when children face poverty, exclusion, violence or limited opportunities,” said UNICEF Pakistan Chief Programme Section Melissa.

UNICEF Pakistan Early Childhood Development Manager Dr Saba Shuja said ECD is one of the smartest investments a country can make. “When children receive care, nutrition and stimulation in their earliest years, they grow up healthier, learn better, and contribute more meaningfully to society.”

The launch event convened youth parliamentarians, educators, health experts, media, and children and adolescents — a powerful cross-section of Pakistan’s next generation of advocates for child rights and wellbeing.

By blending creativity with public health communication, Pakkay Dost’s Bachpan Bemisaal redefines how early childhood messages are delivered, making care, connection and compassion the building blocks of a stronger nation.
