‘It’s not about clothes’: Ayesha Omar lashes out after burka-clad woman harassed in Sheikhupura

Ayesha Omar has always been outspoken on misogyny and victim-blaming. The beloved Bulbulay star reignited the debate over victim-blaming and harassment after a shocking incident in Sheikhupura, where a burka-clad school teacher was harassed on the street by a man.

Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident has once again laid bare the pervasive nature of harassment that women face, regardless of what they wear.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Omar addressed the moral policing often directed at women for their choice of clothing. “So it is really not clothes, is it? It’s just our existence. And their lack of control,” she wrote, highlighting how harassment stems not from attire but from deep-rooted misogyny and a lack of accountability.

The incident occurred in Sheikhupura, Punjab, where CCTV footage showed a man walking closely behind a woman in a full burka before moving beside her and touching her inappropriately. The woman was left visibly shocked, while the suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault.

The Punjab Police swiftly identified and arrested the suspect, earning public praise for their prompt action.

The case has since sparked widespread outrage, with many social media users echoing Ayesha Omar’s sentiment that harassment is a reflection of the perpetrator’s mindset, not the victim’s clothing or behavior.

Women in Pakistan continue to face harassment in public spaces, irrespective of how they dress or where they are.

  • Radiohead’s Thom Yorke says he would ‘absolutely not’ play in Israel

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke says he would ‘absolutely not’ play in Israel

Thom Yorke, the lead singer of the legendary band Radiohead, has said that he will no longer perform in Israel — a clear shift from the band’s controversial decision to play in Tel Aviv eight years ago, despite widespread criticism from pro-Palestinian activists.

“Absolutely not. I wouldn’t want to be 5,000 miles anywhere near the Netanyahu regime,” Yorke told The Sunday Times Magazine, referencing Israel’s prime minister and his government.

The interview, conducted before the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, comes as Radiohead prepare to embark on their first tour in seven years, with 20 shows scheduled across five European cities. Even before the tour dates were announced, the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) urged fans to boycott the band, citing guitarist Jonny Greenwood’s performance in Tel Aviv in 2024.

Radiohead’s 2016–2018 A Moon Shaped Pool tour stirred major backlash after the group performed in Israel, defying calls from figures like director Ken Loach to cancel. At the time, Yorke defended the move, arguing on X (formerly Twitter): “Playing in a country isn’t the same as endorsing its government. We’ve played in Israel for over 20 years… We don’t endorse Netanyahu any more than we endorsed Trump, but we still play in America.”

Yorke, who once called the BDS movement “patronising” and “offensive,” now appears to view that decision differently. He recalled feeling “horrified” when a “clearly connected high-up” Israeli official thanked the band personally for their 2017 performance.

The band’s connection to Israel has remained a source of tension. Last year, Yorke briefly walked off stage during a solo concert in Australia after an activist accused him of staying silent on Gaza. He later issued a statement condemning Netanyahu’s government as “extremists who need to be stopped.”

Meanwhile, Greenwood — whose wife is Israeli — has continued to face scrutiny for his collaborations with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa, though he has also joined anti-Netanyahu protests in Israel. “I’m not ashamed of working with Arab and Jewish musicians,” he told The Sunday Times, adding that he still spends significant time there with his family.

  • ‘Shootings banned at Lahore’s educational institutions after Main Manto Nahin Hoon controversy,’ claims Atiqah Odho

‘Shootings banned at Lahore’s educational institutions after Main Manto Nahin Hoon controversy,’ claims Atiqah Odho

Pakistani actor Atiqah Odho has claimed that several educational institutions in Lahore have banned drama shootings on their campuses following the controversies surrounding the hit drama ‘Main Manto Nahin Hoon’.

The drama, which stars Humayun Saeed as a university professor and Sajal Aly as his student, has been both praised and criticised for its unconventional storyline. The show depicts a romantic relationship between a teacher and his student, and the theme has sparked heated debate across social media and in educational circles.

Speaking on the show Kya Drama Hai, Odho revealed that the backlash over the series had tangible consequences.

“The romantic relationship between a professor and a student in Main Manto Nahin Hoon has started quite a debate in Lahore,” she said. “As a result, many universities have now decided to ban drama shootings on their campuses.”

Odho said she recently returned from Lahore where she learned that the decision was directly influenced by the controversy surrounding the serial.

“I was told that educational institutions have decided they will no longer allow filming on their premises because of the inappropriate content shown in Main Manto Nahin Hoon,” she said, adding that institutions feel the portrayal of a teacher-student relationship is completely unacceptable.

She said that universities were also concerned about how educational spaces were being represented on screen.

While The Current was unable to independently verify Odho’s claim, no official notification from any educational institution or official has so far been released in this regard either.

It, however, may be noted that the claim comes after a recent episode intensified public criticism when Sajal Aly’s character staged her own kidnapping, demanding that her professor, played by Humayun Saeed and the university chancellor come to rescue her.

The scene culminated with students insisting the professor marry his student in court, a moment that went viral online and drew widespread backlash.

Despite the controversy, Main Manto Nahin Hoon continues to attract strong viewership for its performances and bold storytelling.

  • Vaneeza Ahmad turned to Holy Quran to help heal her from cancer

Vaneeza Ahmad turned to Holy Quran to help heal her from cancer

Former supermodel Vaneeza Ahmad has opened up about a deeply personal chapter in her life when she battled lymphoma, a type of cancer.

The former model shared her story during a recent appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, revealing how faith, prayer, and the recitation of Quranic verses played a crucial role in her recovery.

Vaneeza recalled that the illness struck at a time when she was at the height of her career. “I was on top of my career and thought I was invincible,” she said. “I was taking on a lot of work, doing 18-hour shoots, constantly traveling — Paris, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and back to Pakistan. I was flying high, thinking, ‘Wow, look at me,’ until Allah reminded me where I came from.”

It began with a persistent headache that she initially dismissed as jet lag. However, the pain grew unbearable, affecting her vision and memory to the point where she even began forgetting her own name.

After a consultation, doctors at Agha Khan Hospital initially told her that a nerve in her head was being compressed. But when her symptoms worsened, she went through more tests and was eventually told she had meningitis. After getting treatment, lymph nodes in her neck became swollen. This led to a biopsy which confirmed lymphoma, a cancer that effects the blood and lymphatic system.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Vaneeza said. “I didn’t even understand what lymphoma was at first. I was young, busy, and full of life — cancer was something that happened to others, not me.”

Feeling lost and frightened, she turned to a spiritual path on the advice of a close friend, visiting a spiritual healer who told her to recite specific verses from the Holy Quran and remain steadfast in prayer.

“I truly believe in the power of prayer and spiritual healing,” Vaneeza shared. “I didn’t undergo chemotherapy or surgery. I just followed what I was told — to pray, read the Quran, and place my complete trust in Allah. A few days later, the doctors said the cancer was gone. I am still healthy today, Alhamdulillah.”

The actress emphasized that her experience reinforced her faith and taught her humility. “When you’re at your peak, you often forget the source of your success. My illness reminded me that everything — health, fame, success — only comes from Allah.”

Asim Azhar deletes all Instagram posts, sparks concern among fans

Asim Azhar has left fans scratching their heads after deleting his Instagram posts, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic “Khuda Hafiz.”

The Dard hitmaker took to his Instagram stories to write “Khuda Hafiz,” before wiping his feed clean.

As of now, his Instagram account shows no posts, fueling speculation among fans about what might have prompted the sudden move. The singer, known for hits like Jo Tu Na Mila and Habibi, has not issued any official statement explaining his actions.

This comes shortly after Azhar was seen performing in Islamabad, where he expressed frustration over concert delays, criticizing event organizers for setting late show timings. He was also recently spotted at actress Yashma Gill’s birthday bash, where he and Hania Aamir were seen enjoying the viral track Pal Pal.

The move has drawn comparisons to actress Alizeh Shah, who also deleted all her Instagram photos, citing a temporary break from social media.

Adding to the speculation, reports suggest that Asim Azhar recently parted ways with his fiancée, actress Meerub Ali, ending their three-year relationship. Fans have since taken to social media to express concern and curiosity over the singer’s emotional state and possible reasons behind his digital silence.

Neither Asim nor his team has commented on the matter at the time of writing.

  • Saba Qamar doesn’t like Karachi

    Saba Qamar doesn’t like Karachi

Karachi natives say that the city is unlike any other in the country. But superstar Saba Qamar isn’t that enamoured with the coastal metropolis.

The actress opened up about her feelings toward Karachi, candidly admitting that she doesn’t enjoy staying in the city and only travels there for work.

In a recent appearance on a Green TV podcast, the Cheekh star discussed her ongoing drama Pamaal, revealing that only 15 days of shooting remain to be completed. She expressed her fondness for the project, saying she wishes filming would never end because she has been “loving the experience.”

However, when asked whether working outside her hometown Lahore was difficult, Saba made a surprising confession. Whispering playfully, she said, “I don’t like Karachi, if there’s any project in Karachi, please shift it to Islamabad.”

The actress further revealed that she always accepts projects based in Islamabad. “Whatever project I’m offered in Islamabad, I always say, yes, I’m coming,” she said, adding that she is drawn to the city’s atmosphere. “The city has a vibe. And now I have explored that the city has a mysterious vibe.”

When the host remarked that the city’s mystery might resemble her own, Saba smiled and asked, “Am I mysterious?”

She was asked whether she would ever move to Karachi for work, Saba instantly responded, “Astaghfirullah, never,” before clarifying that she regularly travels to Karachi for shoots but prefers to return home afterward.

Ranking her favorite cities, Saba said, “Islamabad, then Lahore, and then Karachi.”

The actress also opened up about her personal life and career priorities. When asked if fellow actor Usman Mukhtar’s “lucky charm for marriage” might work for her too, she laughed and said, “Such things take time. I’m focused on entertaining my audience right now. Marriage and kids happen only when time, the person, and destiny align.”

Discussing on-screen romances, Saba admitted she enjoys performing romantic scenes despite initial awkwardness. “Romance isn’t something we are taught growing up, which makes such scenes challenging,” she explained, adding that male actors often become overly serious during such moments. “Chemistry and comfort are key to making the scenes believable,” she said.

Fans have praised her recent romantic performance with Usman Mukhtar in Pamaal, while her emotional portrayal in Case No 9 continues to win hearts across Pakistan.

  • Fact check: Did Balochistan govt blacklist Salman Khan after Balochistan remarks?

Fact check: Did Balochistan govt blacklist Salman Khan after Balochistan remarks?

A social media storm erupted over the weekend after claims surfaced online stating that the government of Balochistan had declared Bollywood superstar Salman Khan a “terrorist” and placed him on the country’s “terror watchlist” following his recent remarks about Balochistan at the Joy Forum 2025 in Riyadh.

However, the alleged document circulating online is fabricated.

The controversy began after a video clip from the Riyadh event went viral in which Salman Khan, sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, spoke about the wide popularity of Indian films in the Middle East. The actor said, “If you release a Hindi movie here (in Saudi Arabia), it will be a superhit. Even Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam films earn a lot because people from different countries live here — there are people from Balochistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, all working here.”

The remark in which Balochistan and Pakistan were mentioned separately, drew criticism from some Pakistani social media users, who accused Khan of implying that Balochistan was a separate entity from Pakistan. Soon after, an image of an alleged government notification dated October 16, 2025, began circulating online, claiming that Salman Khan had been added to Pakistan’s Fourth Schedule under the Anti-Terrorism Act as an “Azad Balochistan Facilitator.”

However, no official statement or confirmation of such an action has come from the Balochistan government, Interior Ministry, or any verified Pakistani government accounts. None of Pakistan’s major newspapers or official websites have reported any such move and there are no traces of such notification on official website of Balochistan government.

Several Indian media outlets have also confirmed that the viral document lacks essential features of an official Pakistani notification — such as proper letterhead, reference number, official seals, or verified signatures. Moreover, the document carries factual inconsistencies, including a date mismatch that suggests it was created before Salman Khan even made the alleged remark on October 7.

According to Indian media outlets, the document was first shared by a social media user named Nasir Azeem who had claimed this was an official notification from Balochistaan government, which actually is not true.

In conclusion, the claim that the Balochistan government has declared Salman Khan a terrorist or blacklisted him is completely false. The viral “official” document is doctored, and no such order exists in any government record.

  • Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau go public with romantic walk in Paris

Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau go public with romantic walk in Paris

American singer Katy Perry and Former Prime Minister (PM) of Canada, Justin Trudeau made their relationship public after being photographed holding hands in Paris while heading to the Crazy Horse cabaret to celebrate Perry’s 41st birthday.

Pictures and short video clips quickly circulated on social media platforms, showing the pair walking from a car to the venue. Trudeau dressed in a black suit and Perry in a red satin gown.

The footage spread across social media like wild fire.  Earlier sightings that date back to July show the two dining at Le Violon in Montreal. Subsequent sightings hinted at more private meetups, including a set of pictures from September that allegedly showed them on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

The Paris outing is seen as the most public indication yet that their relationship has moved from private meetings to visible dates. Neither Perry nor Trudeau has commented directly on the night, but reports described it as a birthday date.

Meanwhile, during a recent concert, a lighthearted moment went viral when a fan proposed to Perry onstage — prompting her to joke that he was “a little late” and should have asked sooner.

Reports trace the start of the Perry–Trudeau timeline to July 2025, when photos of their Montreal dinner were first released, prompting follow-ups. By September, social media pictures of the yacht outing had made things unofficially official. Various media outlets have described the pair as having an easy connection while balancing Perry’s touring schedule and Trudeau’s public life.

Perry was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012, had public relationships with John Mayer and Diplo, and was engaged to Orlando Bloom from 2019 until their reported split in June 2025. Perry and Bloom share a daughter.

  • Alizeh Shah wipes Instagram account, opens up about grief

Alizeh Shah wipes Instagram account, opens up about grief

Alizeh Shah has surprised fans by deleting all her pictures from Instagram and announcing a temporary break from social media.

Taking to Instagram Stories, the Ehd-e-Wafa star shared a heartfelt video statement, saying she had removed all her posts and was stepping away from the platform to reflect on her life.

“I have deleted all the pictures from Instagram, and I am happy about it — mostly ashamed because I really don’t know what I was doing with my life, and it was all out of grief,” she admitted in the video.

Alizeh further revealed that she didn’t know when she would return but made it clear that her deleted posts and the version of herself that shared them, were gone for good.

“I don’t know when I will come back, but those pictures will never come back, and neither will that Alizeh. So, yeah, it’s a little goodbye,” she said.

Following her announcement, Alizeh’s video quickly went viral across social media platforms, with fans expressing mixed reactions. Many applauded her decision to prioritize her mental health, while others questioned the sudden move.

With over 4.3 million followers, the actress had a prolific account. Now she has replaced her display photo with a simple orange-colored solid background.

Over the past few years, Alizeh Shah has often found herself in the spotlight for both her bold social media presence and off-screen controversies. From daring fashion choices and music videos to public spats with co-stars and senior artists, she has remained a polarizing figure in the entertainment industry.

The actress previously admitted that many of her past actions stemmed from a period of grief and depression. She also claimed to have been mistreated by influential figures and openly spoke about her struggles.

Despite her controversies, including an on-set altercation where she reportedly slapped a co-actor and her much-publicized rift with veteran singer Shazia Manzoor, Alizeh continues to enjoy a strong fan following for her performances in hit dramas such as Ehd-e-Wafa and Ishq Tamasha.

As Alizeh Shah bids farewell to Instagram, at least for now, it is worth noting that this isn’t the first time she has done that, but fans are left wondering what the next chapter of the actress’s journey will look like and whether a “new” Alizeh will eventually return.

  • Nadia Khan says ‘relieved’ over action against Ducky Bhai, urges youth to ‘work hard instead of shortcuts’

Nadia Khan says ‘relieved’ over action against Ducky Bhai, urges youth to ‘work hard instead of shortcuts’

Pakistani actor and television host Nadia Khan has said that YouTuber Saad Ur Rehman aka Ducky Bhai’s gambling apps promotion case should serve as a lesson for youngsters “to work hard instead of looking for shortcuts”.

Speaking on one of her shows, Khan discussed the recent crackdown against influencers for promoting said apps and called the case “an example for youth”.

“Those who think that no action will be taken in Pakistan and everything is easy, should see how Ducky Bhai is being questioned and how Rjab Butt may be brought back to Pakistan via Interpol,” she said, questioning what good were billions of rupees that brought disgrace and humiliation.

“You built a name, you got fans and they turned on you. And now the financial damage Ducky Bhai is suffering, how will he ever make it up? Money may come overnight but so does responsibility.”

“Our parents taught us that money earned easily and without hard work always disappears quickly. When you earn money slowly and through effort, it holds value and brings responsibility,” she said and added that as a mother, she felt “relieved” because millions of children were being influenced especially by Ducky Bhai who “made them believe that education would get you nowhere”.

She also called on youngsters to focus on studies, gradually earning respect and money through hard work and dedication.

Nadia’s comments come as Ducky Bhai continues facing legal troubles for promoting unauthorised gambling and betting applications.

In August, he was arrested from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport while attempting to leave the country.

The FIR filed against him cited 27 video links allegedly promoting apps such as Binomo, 1xBet and B9 Game – platforms accused of defrauding users and operating without regulatory approval in Pakistan.

His physical remand has been extended several times as investigators examine his mobile phones, laptop and financial records.

His wife Aroob Jatoi among other influencers have also been nominated in similar cases.
