Riyan Parag finally talks about his viral ‘search history’ controversy

Indian cricketer Riyan Parag has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his search history for Bollywood actresses Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan.

Known for his performances in T20 cricket, Parag has had a mixed relationship with social media. Sometimes praised for his game and other times trolled for his actions, he often finds himself in the spotlight.

After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Parag made headlines when his search history for Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan was accidentally leaked during a live stream.

In a recent interview with City1016 Radio, he finally addressed the controversy, revealing that the incident actually occurred before the IPL but resurfaced later after his strong performance in the tournament.

Parag explained, “I finished the IPL, we were in Chennai, finished the match, got on a Discord call with my streaming team, and it got publicised now, but it happened before the IPL. One of the people in my Discord team tried to set me up before the IPL, but that got taken down very quickly.”

“But then, after the IPL, the hype was there, and I had a good season. I came and opened my stream; I didn’t have Spotify or Apple Music. Everything was deleted. So I went on YouTube to put on music, and I searched for music. But I didn’t know what was happening, but once I did, the stream ended; I was like, Oh s**t! This happened. It just got blown out of proportion. I didn’t think it was a good enough reason for me to go out publicly and clarify everything, and no one would understand,” he said.

Parag’s search history included explicit searches related to Bollywood actresses Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan.

Despite the controversy, he has continued to grow as a key player for India in T20 cricket.

Drunken Japan official loses drug dealer files

A drunken night out led to a Japanese finance ministry official losing documents containing personal information about nearly 200 people suspected of illegal drug dealings, local media reported.

The official with the ministry’s customs and tariff bureau guzzled nine glasses of beer on a five-hour bender last week before realising their bag was gone, public broadcaster NHK said Monday.

The official reportedly started drinking with customs staff in Yokohama, near Tokyo, at around 6 pm Thursday.

The incident “significantly undermined public trust in us, and we’re deeply sorry”, the ministry told local media, adding the official in question will be severely punished.

The finance ministry could not be reached by AFP on Tuesday, which is a public holiday in Japan.

Report claims cop slapped Special Branch officer, not PCB employee, outside Qaddafi

Amid social media claims that a police officer slapped a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) employee outside the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore, We News has revealed that the individual in plain clothes was not an employee of the cricket board but a Special Branch officer.

The incident came to light yesterday when a video showing a police officer slapping a person wearing plain clothes went viral online.

In the viral video, the plain clothed individual can be heard shouting in a heated argument with police officials. “Motorcycle lo iss ka (Take his motorbike),” a police officer says. “Ja raha hu main (I’m leaving now),” the plain cloth individual tells the police officer.

However, suddenly, the police official pulled the man and slapped him while using abusive words. A senior police officer can be heard calling the police official  “Adnan.”

“Bann gaya tamasha, main keh raha hu ban gaya tamasha (A spectacle has been created. I’m saying a spectacle has been made),” the plain clothed individual said instantly, after being beaten by the SI.

The report reveals that the misunderstanding erupted when the special branch officer parked his motorcycle at a restricted place, leading to a heated debate with police officers. During the row, the police officer slapped the special branch officer in the face.

Model Town superintendent of police (SP), Akhlaq Ullah Tarar, while taking notice of the incident, directed Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Gulberg to present an inquiry report within 24 hours, media has stated.

The video sparked outrage online after it went viral yesterday, with some internet users calling for action against the police officer, while others opined that the plainclothes men must follow security-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

“Sad, truly sad. A young police officer slapped the civilian. Are they not given proper training? How can such emotional and irrational officers provide security to the public,” a social media user asked on X (formerly Twitter).

Another user wrote that when an officer wearing a uniform beats a civilian in plain clothes, it is an insult to civilians. “Our tragedy is that we can never be civilized. Everyone is ready to cross every limit for power—no matter who they are or what the limit is,” said the third user.

“The plain clothed man was the one who behaved rudely first, disrespecting the police. Why was he acting so arrogantly and pushing the police officers,” asked another netizen.

  • B Praak ditches BeerBiceps’ podcast after controversial jokes

B Praak ditches BeerBiceps’ podcast after controversial jokes

Singer B Praak has refused to appear on influencer Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, criticising him for his “pathetic thinking” after a controversial remark on a reality show sparked outrage.

Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, faced backlash for his comment about “parents and sex” on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.

He has 10.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, where he hosts the podcast The Ranveer Show.

The clip went viral, leading to heavy criticism. He later apologised and requested the show’s creators to remove the segment.

In an Instagram video, Praak said, “I was supposed to be on BeerBiceps’ podcast, but we cancelled it. The words he used on Samay Raina’s show were unacceptable.”

“This is not our Indian culture. What story are you telling about your parents? What are you even talking about? Is this comedy? This is not at all comedy. Abusing people, teaching people how to abuse, what kind of generation (is this)? I don’t understand,” he said.

The controversy has escalated, with a BJP functionary filing a police complaint against Allahbadia, Raina, and the show’s participants. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also called for action, while the National Commission for Women (NCW) is reviewing the matter.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis commented that, while freedom of speech is important, it should not cross limits. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) also condemned Allahbadia’s remarks.

However, Samay Raina has yet to respond to the controversy.

Is marriage on the cards for Agha Ali once again?

Actor Agha Ali has finally addressed whether second marriage is on the cards for him.

Appearing as a guest on After Hours with Ushna Shah, Agha shared that while he hasn’t planned for marrying again yet, he believes it will happen when the time is right.

When asked if he would remarry after his divorce, Agha Ali responded, “The wound is still  deep. People think that’s how it is, but it’s not. I haven’t thought about it yet, but what’s the point of thinking?  I didn’t think about divorce either, but it happened. What happened is what God wills.”

“When God wills it, I will get married again,” The Main Hari Piya actor added.

Discussing success in today’s world Agha Ali said, “No one cares about appearance anymore, what matters is success. Without a successful and attractive personality, nothing else matters.”

Agha Ali and Hina Altaf tied the knot on May 22, 2022 but got divorced in 2024.

Earlier, Agha Ali  revealed the reason for his divorce from actress Hina Altaf.

On Nida Yasir’s Good Morning show, Agha Ali spoke openly about his divorce for the first time.

“It has been more than a year and a half since the divorce. I would not like to talk much about it because she (Hina Altaf) is not at the forefront at the moment, which is what is being talked about.”

Confirming the divorce, he said, “Apart from this, in my opinion, every story is different, every boy is different, every girl is different. What happened to us was our destiny; that is why we decided to separate in a civilized way.”

“In the bond of marriage, it is important for both to give importance to their spouse, not to consider them insignificant. In our society, 99 percent of marriages end because they do not give importance to each other,” he added.

He also added, “If the relationship is not working even after trying 100 percent, then it is better to separate while respecting each other.”

  • Netflix’s ‘biased’ Pakistan-India cricket docuseries faces backlash

Netflix’s ‘biased’ Pakistan-India cricket docuseries faces backlash

Netflix’s much-anticipated documentary, The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan, promised to capture the magnitude of cricket’s fiercest contest. However, following its release, fans from both sides of the border expressed their scepticism.

Many accused it of being one-sided and lacking balance. While some were excited about reliving the iconic moments of the rivalry, others questioned whether the documentary truly offered a neutral perspective.

One of the earliest concerns raised was about potential bias, with a fan sarcastically commenting, “It’s going to be super biased, might even call Pakistani cricketers janab.”

Another user pointed out the selective coverage of matches, noting that “Seems like they aren’t gonna talk about the 2012 series and Champions Trophy 2017 (Pakistan won).” This led to further speculation that the documentary might focus more on India’s triumphs rather than presenting a fair historical account.

In addition, some viewers felt the focus was shifting from the broader rivalry to individual personalities. One commenter said, “It looks like a Shoaib Akhtar vs. Virender Sehwag rivalry.”

Beyond the content itself, some fans criticised the fundamental nature of the rivalry, arguing that it lacks balance as the two teams are not playing bilateral series anymore. A user expressed this by saying, “India vs Pakistan would be an even bigger rivalry if India would deign to play their neighbours.”

Previously, even the trailer failed to impress many, as some complained about missing key players. “The trailer didn’t have Sachin, Virat, Rohit, Akram, Gambhir. Needed a much more explosive trailer,” one fan pointed out. Another bluntly called it “The worst trailer. Let sports be sports… why bring visuals of the army?”

Some critics dismissed the documentary’s premise altogether, calling it a “Greatest One-Sided Rivalry”, while others doubted its neutrality, stating, “I doubt this will be an unbiased documentary with a perspective from both sides.”

As the debate rages on, some viewers are already calling it a missed opportunity. One unimpressed fan summed it up: “Most boring series to watch… could have been made much better, honestly.”

Whether the documentary lives up to expectations or remains a subject of controversy, one thing is clear: the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry continues to ignite passionate debates far beyond the pitch.

The documentary focuses on the historic 2004 series when India played Pakistan after years of political tensions. This tour was more than just cricket—it was a moment when sports brought two rival nations together. Players share their experiences, discussing the pressure, excitement, and friendships built during these matches, giving fans a closer look at what it’s like to play in one of the biggest rivalries in cricket.
