Jim Acosta Takes a Stand Against Trump. Will CNN Move Him to Late Night?

Jim Acosta became a prominent figure as CNN’s chief White House correspondent because of his often aggressive tone against President Trump and his press secretaries. He was later promoted to weekend anchoring and then to weeknight anchoring. Previous CNN administrations valued Jim Acosta’s ongoing conflicts with the first Trump administration. However, the current one is determined to defuse the situation.

Jim Acosta used this opportunity to discuss various complex topics and address every concern that might be raised by critics of the press today. His news item arose from Biden’s statement during the live television session on his way to the White House exit. As always, CNN is a big fan of putting out posters professing its ‘CNN values’ to convey its brand’s moral superiority over everyone else.

While addressing the worries that some have about the direction taken by democracy today, CNN primarily took charge of the traditional media in America. Jim Acosta used this courtesy to force intricate answers to tackle every topic and mitigate evidence that can be used against the supporters of journalism today. He has tried to use whatever evidence he has to support today’s agenda.

Is CNN Preparing to Shift Him to Late Night?

Jim Acosta is considering the offer made by CNN Chairman and Chief Executive Mark Thompson to give up daytime and relocate to Los Angeles for a two-hour evening newscast that starts at midnight Eastern time.

He has not yet decided whether or not to accept the assignment, according to his acquaintances who were not permitted to speak on the record. However, he has been reassured by CNN that relocating to Los Angeles is not something that is going to be enforced. Moreover, the new program can be created out of Washington, where he resides with his family.

If CNN decides to implement such a change, some will view it as a way to please President Trump by reducing the expected profile of a journalist who has become well-known for reporting on the Trump administration far too aggressively. According to his close associates, Jim Acosta is expected to depart the network if he decides to decline the offer.

When Acosta worked as a White House correspondent, he became perhaps one of Trump’s most vehement critics. The White House suspended his press credentials following a heated argument with Trump during a news conference in November 2018.

  • Danish politician tells Trump to ‘f**K off’

Danish politician tells Trump to ‘f**K off’

A video of Danish politician Anders Vistisen swearing at newly-elected US President Donald Trump and telling him to “f*** off” has been circulating online.

In his speech, he said, “Dear President (Donald) Trump. Listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale. Let me put it in words you might understand: Mister Trump, f*** off.”

Vice President Nicolae Stefanuta rebuked the Danish politician for using profane language in the European Parliament while discussing the new US administration. “In this house of democracy… regardless of what we think of Mister Trump, it is not possible to use such language,” Nicolae told him.

Vistisen is a member of the right-wing Patriots for Europe group and responded to President Trump’s remarks concerning the control of Greenland to ensure international security.

The American president has expressed interest in making Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, a part of the US since his re-election in November last year. However, he has not announced any plans to use military or economic power to persuade Denmark to hand it over.

Trump has also expressed interest in Canada, suggesting it could become one of the American states. He even posted an AI-generated map of America showing Canada as part of the country.

This infuriated many Canadians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who posted on X (formerly Twitter), “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States.”

  • India uses AI to stop stampedes at Kumbh Mela 2025

India uses AI to stop stampedes at Kumbh Mela 2025

Keen to improve India’s abysmal crowd management record at large-scale religious events, organisers of the world’s largest human gathering are using artificial intelligence to try to prevent stampedes.

Organisers predict up to 400 million pilgrims will visit the Kumbh Mela, a millennia-old sacred show of Hindu piety and ritual bathing that began Monday and runs for six weeks.

Deadly crowd crushes are a notorious feature of Indian religious festivals, and the Kumbh Mela, with its unfathomable throngs of devotees, has a grim track record of stampedes.

“We want everyone to go back home happily after having fulfilled their spiritual duties,” Amit Kumar, a senior police officer heading tech operations in the festival, told AFP.

“AI is helping us avoid reaching that critical mass in sensitive places.”

More than 400 people died after being trampled or drowned at the Kumbh Mela on a single day of the festival in 1954, one of the largest tolls in a crowd-related disaster globally.

Another 36 people were crushed to death in 2013, the last time the festival was staged in the northern city of Prayagraj.

But this time, authorities say the technology they have deployed will help them gather accurate estimates of crowd sizes, allowing them to be better prepared for potential trouble.

Police say they have installed around 300 cameras at the festival site and on roads leading to the sprawling encampment, mounted on poles and a fleet of overhead drones.

Not far from the spiritual centre of the festival at the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers, the network is overseen in a glass-panelled command and control room by a small army of police officers and technicians.

“We can look at the entire Kumbh Mela from here,” said Kumar. “There are camera angles where we cannot even see complete bodies and we have to count using heads or torsos.”

Kumar said the footage fed into an AI algorithm that gives its handlers an overall estimate of a crowd stretching for miles in every direction, cross-checked against data from railways and bus operators.

“We are using AI to track people flow, crowd density at various inlets, adding them up and then interpolating from there,” he added.

The system sounds the alarm if sections of the crowd get so concentrated that they pose a safety threat.

    ‘Makes us feel safe’

The Kumbh Mela is rooted in Hindu mythology, a battle between deities and demons for control of a pitcher containing the nectar of immortality.

Organisers say the scale of this year’s festival is that of a temporary country — with numbers expected to total around the combined populations of the United States and Canada.

Some six million devotees took a dip in the river on the first morning of the festival, according to official estimates.

With a congregation that size, Kumar said that some degree of crowd crush is inevitable.

“The personal bubble of an individual is quite big in the West,” said Kumar, explaining how the critical threshold at which AI crowd control systems ring the alarm is higher than in other countries using similar crowd management systems.

“The standard there is three people per square foot,” he added. “But we can afford to go several times higher than that.”

Organisers have been eager to tout the technological advancements of this year’s edition of the Kumbh Mela and their attendant benefits for pilgrims.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, a devout Hindu monk whose government is responsible for organising the festival, has described it as an event “at the confluence of faith and modernity”.

“The fact that there are cameras and drones makes us feel safe,” 28-year-old automotive engineer Harshit Joshi, one of the millions of pilgrims to arrive for the start of the festival, told AFP.

  • Actress Sabeena Farooq demands justice for 7yo boy raped, killed in Karachi

Actress Sabeena Farooq demands justice for 7yo boy raped, killed in Karachi

Actress Sabeena Farooq is advocating for seven-year-old Sarim, who was tragically murdered after being subjected to sexual assault. She posted a story on Instagram, urging the authorities to take action.

In her post, Sabeena wrote, “This as much as we can so the authorities take action. I request the Sindh government to investigate & punish the culprit behind this bcz enough of this already. The kid was only 7!!!!”

The autopsy report of Sarim, who went missing from North Karachi on January 7 and was found after 11 days, revealed that he was subjected to sexual assault before being murdere.

Media reports indicate that the police are now treating the case as a murder investigation. Sarim’s body was found in an underground water tank of a high-rise building in Bilal Colony’s Anam Apartments.

Sarim was a student at Madrasah Al Quran and went to his seminary on January 7 but never returned. His father, Parvez, went to the seminary to inquire about his son and was told that Sarim had left for home at 3:40 pm. On his way back, Parvez found Sarim’s gloves on the stairs inside a mosque.

After an extensive search, the police found Sarim’s body in a water tank on January 18. The autopsy revealed that the injuries on his body suggested it was “not an accidental death”.

Initially, the police investigated the possibility of foul play or assault and considered the chance that the water tank was not properly covered, which might have caused Sarim to fall inside if he was playing nearby. However, the autopsy report later confirmed that Sarim was raped.

The report detailed that Sarim had suffered 12 different injuries on various parts of his body, and “all are antemortem (prior to death) except one injury.” Although his body was found after 11 days, the examination confirmed that he had died “approximately four to five days” before the post-mortem.

These revelations have raised concerns about the police’s investigation skills, as it is now clear that Sarim was alive at least a week after his kidnapping.

DIG-West Irfan Ali Baloch stated that the exact cause and time of death are yet to be confirmed by doctors, and he had not received the reports in this regard. He also mentioned that the police had taken a teacher of the seminary into custody, and his DNA samples were taken for cross-matching with the victim’s samples.

Residents of Sarim’s neighborhood expressed shock over his recovery, stating that law enforcement had checked the tank twice during the search but failed to find any sign of the child. Some speculated that the child’s body may have remained submerged and surfaced over time.
