    Khan says Marwat kept violating party policy

    Founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan held talks with journalists in Adiala Jail on Monday in which he stated that maverick party leader Sher Afzal Marwat did great work for the party but kept violating party policy despite warnings.

    On Saturday, PTI served a show-cause notice to Marwat for allegedly breaching the party’s code of conduct and undermining its interests with his recent remarks targeting senior party leaders and Saudi Arabia.

    Marwat was also expelled from the party’s core and political committees, as directed by party founder Imran Khan.

    Journalist Zubair Ali Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of what Imran said. “Sher Afzal Marwat was told many times not to violate party policy. He used to attack some party leader or the other every day. On the occasion of the visit of the [Saudi] delegation, Sher Afzal Marwat made a controversial statement.”

    Khan also remarked that there is no issue with Marwat if he still follows the party policy.

    Former President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi wrote about a personal moment he shared with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail where the former Prime Minister is currently incarcerated.

    Alvi recounted on X (formerly Twitter) that Imran Khan was enthusiastic as ever and welcomed him. He also humorously pointed towards his chest with prisoner number 804 written on his clothes.

    He wrote, “We all had a hearty laugh. His humour, intelligence, boldness & fearlessness has taken a quantum jump and his incarceration instead of weakening him has made him exponentially stronger.”

    After a heated exchange of words between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the Governor extended an olive branch by vowing all possible support to the provincial government for resolving public issues.

    Addressing a press conference at Kundi Model Farm, he said that after taking the oath, he always wanted to work for the betterment of the people of KP including former FATA. “I repeatedly wished to work together with the provincial government for the development and welfare of the province,” he said.

    The Governor also remarked, “We are democratic people and will never want to impose governor’s rule.”

    Earlier, in the war of words between the two, Gandapur had warned against any imposition of ‘Governor’s raj’.

    “The law and order is a burning issue being faced by the province,” Kundi said, adding that the provincial government should take concrete steps in that regard.

    He also criticised the provincial government as he pointed out the KP government was getting Rs60 billion to Rs80 billion from the centre for addressing its law and order issue. “Despite this, the salaries of police are low as compared to other provinces,” he added.

    The ruling coalition government in Punjab led by PML-N on Friday lost dozens of reserved seats in the provincial assembly when the speaker suspended 24 women and three minority MPAs elected on reserved seats and barred them from joining the house proceedings.

    Most of the suspended members of parliament belonged to PML-N, two to PPP and one each to PML-Q and IPP.

    Speaker Malik Mohammad Ahmed Khan took the decision after the Supreme Court suspended the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of allocating the reserved seats of SIC to other parties.

    Opposition lawmaker Rana Aftab of PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), during the house proceedings, had raised this issue and then on Friday, the speaker read out the Supreme Court order and gave the ruling that Rana Aftab’s point of order was lawful and suspended the 27 members immediately.

    Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry recently replied to a journalist’s question that, “Dialogues can be definitely held better under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.”

    Journalist Ali Hamza asked Chaudhry if Nawaz is taking the reigns of his party’s leadership back so would that have any impact on starting talks with PTI?

    According to Fawad, “The real power lies with Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif has nothing.”

    The former PTI leader said that he was hopeful that Nawaz Sharif will take the initiative of starting dialogue with PTI.

    “Nawaz Sharif has been in politics since 1985 and if there is anyone in this country that can do something to improve the political landscape of Pakistan, then that is only Nawaz Sharif,” said Chaudhry.

    PTI issues show-cause notice to Marwat

    Internal differences with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reached a head on Saturday when the party issued a show cause notice to its crowd-favourite leader, Sher Afzal Marwat.

    PTI’s Secretary General Omar Ayub issued the notice to Marwat for going against the party’s discipline and making irresponsible statements, emphasising that his words had damaged the party’s reputation.
    Marwat now has three days to submit his answer.
    “If your reply is unsatisfactory or you do not respond, further action will be taken as per party policy and rules,” said the notice.

    Marwat, known for his blunt and controversial remarks, has clashed with several party leaders, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz, keeping him in the limelight since Imran Khan’s incarceration.
    On May 9, Omar Ayub said PTI removed Sher Afzal Marwat from the core and political committees of the party under the directions of Imran Khan.
    “The PTI founder said Marwat tried to damage his personal relations with the kingdom [of Saudi Arabia] as he has excellent ties with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman,” Ayub said.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur said on Thursday that the KP government will resist any efforts to impose governor rule in the province.

    He condemned the May 9 incidents and said that those who are responsible for violent protests should be held accountable.

    Gandapur emphasised that, despite facing eight FIRs in eight different districts, none of the allegations have been proven to be true.

    Gandapur also warned undemocratic forces who want to undermine the democratic process.

    “I will not remain silent for the chief minister’s seat, and if governor rule is imposed, we will take over the governor’s house,” Gandapur said.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan took a major step in his recent meeting with former president Dr Arif Alvi at Adiala jail by assigning an important responsibility to him.

    PTI secretary general and opposition leader in parliament, Omar Ayub Khan, confirmed to journalists that Alvi is working actively to bridge the gap between PTI and the establishment.

    The decision to assign the responsibility to Dr Arif Alvi came a day after the PTI founder refused to apologise for May 9 riots.

    However, Dr Arif Alvi said, while talking to the media, that Imran Khan is still ready to make sacrifices for the nation and the country. He also stated that some PTI workers were involved in the May 9 incidents, but wiping out the entire party was wrong.

    The May 9 violence was triggered across the country after deposed Prime Minister Khan’s arrest in the £190 million settlement case last year.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has been kicked out of the party’s core and political committees on the direction of founder PTI Imran Khan, confirmed party Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan on Thursday.

    The development occurred a day after Marwat criticised PTI leaders and told journalists that he will not work under the new leadership of the party.

    “I refuse to work with Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub […] they didn’t allow me to meet Imran Khan [in prison],” Marwat said while speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

    On the other hand, on Thursday, opposition leader and PTI’s Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan said while talking to the media that Imran Khan authorised the issuance of show-cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat as he tried to “spoil” ties with Saudi Arabia.

    “The PTI founder said Marwat tried to damage his personal relations with the kingdom [of Saudi Arabia] as he has excellent ties with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman,” Ayub said.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan, while talking to Independent Urdu, said that May 9 was a conspiracy against PTI. In response to a question regarding apologising to the military, the PTI leader said, “Yes, we will apologise if an independent commission is made.”

    On the other hand, Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain (TTA) alliance leaders demanded a judicial investigation into the May 9 violent protests last year.

    TTA chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, while speaking at the event in Islamabad, warned that his party workers will protest on the streets across the country if martial law was imposed in the country, and the constitution was destabilised.

    Similarly, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said sarcastically while addressing the same event that DG ISPR, in his recent press release, gave ‘facts like Form 47’.
