Mahira Khan rejects claims of ‘silent rivalry’ with Saba Qamar

Superstar Mahira Khan recently addressed speculation of an alleged “silent rivalry” with thespian Saba Qamar during an appearance on a television show, where she promoted her upcoming film Neelofar alongside fellow A-lister Fawad Khan.

During the show, a fan asked Mahira about persistent rumors surrounding the interactions between the two actresses. The fan inquired, “There have always been media reports of your and Saba Qamar’s unspoken animosity, how true is this?”

Mahira replied, “Not in the slightest. I have been asked this question numerous times, and my response has consistently been that there is absolutely nothing of the sort from my side; it is entirely untrue.”

Mahira elaborated on how such narratives often emerge when two prominent women are publicly discussed.

She stated, “This is a global phenomenon. When people observe two powerful and successful women together, they tend to pit them against one another.” She further noted that the attention often diverts to imagined disputes rather than their work, explaining that the situation “benefits everyone except those women.”

She also praised Saba’s talents, saying, “I’m not trying to be diplomatic; I believe Saba is a fantastic actress.”

She mentioned that while she and Saba have not yet collaborated, she would be open to it. “If we end up working together on a project, it could potentially result in an excellent outcome.”

The public dialogue surrounding the two actresses began in 2019 when Saba appeared on The Munshi Show. When questioned about her relationship with Mahira, Saba commented, “We are not friends.”

The statement sent social media into hyperdrive. Later, Saba clarified that there were no issues between them, asserting, “There’s no problem between us, primarily because we have never interacted or worked together. She is excelling in her own field, and I am doing the same in mine.”

Since that time, Mahira has been asked about the issue repeatedly and has consistently maintained that there is no conflict from her end. Saba’s responses have also remained unchanged, with both actresses stating that they operate independently and that the discussion if a rivalry arises from assumptions rather than any personal experiences.

  • Case No. 9: When Ego Takes the Stand and Justice Fights Back

Case No. 9: When Ego Takes the Stand and Justice Fights Back

Case No.9 Episodes 15 and 16 were like we predicted it! Kamran (Faysal Quraishi) was unable to control his ego and thought he could take down Beenish (Amina Shaikh), in a dream no less and thought he was fully able to make it a reality. He failed of course, revealing that he had no evidence that Sehar (Saba Qamar) had been flirting with him whereas Sehar had evidence that he was the one who was after her. Beenish’s epic takedown of Kamran’s staff member was also full of suspense when the information was being relayed to her by her fellow lawyer. In that moment, when Beenish was given information that could help the case, you couldn’t help but think that doing the right thing is so very hard with so many hurdles.

But it seems like the hurdles are clearing, as we see Inspector Shafeeq (Gohar Rasheed) also feeling the burn has his superior tells him that Kamran is taking the stand and he might be exposed, we see Kamran’s lawyer pleading with Kamran not to take the stand (when the law gave him the right not to take it), but Kamran’s ego getting in the way and we also see it, in the most complicated way with Rohit (Junaid Khan).

It is clear that the drama will take the direction of Rohit having to make a choice between his friend who saved him from a blasphemy mob and his friend who is a rapist and he knows about it. He will have to accept that Kamran is not the same person he thought he was but can Rohit’s guilt of convicting his friend get out of his way of doing the right thing? That will be the most important break and crack in the case and Kamran and Rohit’s business and friendship.

The show is getting so gripping that you have to see the teaser for the next episode because you must know what happens. We see in the teaser that Kiran (Rushna Khan) confronts Rohit and he has a breakdown and a big showdown in court between Sehar and Kamran.

While the showdown seems to be one of Sehar finally taking charge of her rights and really letting go and giving it to Kamran, it also seems a bit out of place in this very realistic drama. Are there really outbursts like that in court between a rapist and a rape vicitim? One would like to believe so, despite seeing that Sehar might be taken in for contempt of court, but secretly happy that she faced her attacker and told him exactly what she thought of him.

Only time will tell until next week.

“People like @yasir.hussain131 made judgment about the fake one that went viral a year ago. Like Yasir Hussain, jinka khud dimagh kharab hai [whose own mind is not right], should’ve watched that show before passing judgment about me,” Laiba fired back in an Instagram story.

  • Celebrities, fans praise Atif’s professionalism for I-Day performance despite father’s passing

Celebrities, fans praise Atif’s professionalism for I-Day performance despite father’s passing

Atif Aslam’s choice to perform on Independence Day in Karachi, one day after his father’s passing, has generated an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists. The singer graced the stage at the Sindh government’s Maarka-e-Haq Jashn-e-Azadi event held at Karachi’s National Stadium, entertaining a full audience despite his recent sorrow.

His performance caught significant attention as videos from the event began circulating on social media. While some viewers were taken aback by his decision to perform so soon, many from the industry publicly lauded his determination to fulfil a prior commitment.

Actor Saba Qamar posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating that she recognized the struggle of performing while in mourning. “Bearing heartbreak while putting on a smile is one of the most difficult challenges anyone can face,” she remarked, adding that his ability to take the stage the following day showcased “strength, depth, and dedication.”

Actor Nameer Khan applauded Aslam, remembering that he had to go back to work shortly after his father’s death and noted how audiences often fail to grasp the struggles artists endure away from the spotlight. “They witness the performance, not the sorrow beneath it,” he commented, referring to Aslam’s performance as a testament to his professional dedication.

Superstar Meesha Shafi referred to Aslam as “the most exceptional and committed artist” of his time, sending prayers for him and his family.

The support extended to social media platforms as well. One user remarked, “Life and performances must continue. We will always remember our loved ones, but they would want us to keep advancing.” Another urged for an end to the online negativity, stating, “Let’s offer a prayer for him. May Allah provide him with the strength to endure this loss and grant his father the highest status.” Others acknowledged that his performance likely fulfilled an engagement made many months prior, viewing it as a testament to his devotion to his art.

Despite frequent reports of delays and last-minute cancellations in Pakistan’s live music circuit where artists sometimes arrive late or withdraw without notice, Atif Aslam’s decision to perform under such personal strain has renewed discussion on professionalism in the industry. Public responses contrasted his approach with a pattern where performers fail to meet commitments. In March 2024, for instance, singer Asim Azhar’s Lahore concert was cancelled at short notice. Organisers cited “unforeseen circumstances,” but Azhar later said neither he nor his team had any conflict and that no genuine reason was provided for the postponement. Against this backdrop, many noted that while cancellations and delays remain common, Aslam honoured an engagement made months earlier, setting an example of dedication to his craft.

A-list star Saba Qamar suddenly fainted during a shoot, prompting her to be shifted immediately to a hospital in Rawalpindi.

After timely medical assistance from doctors, her condition improved, and she has now recovered and been discharged.

According to media reports, Saba Qamar was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital in Rawalpindi after her health deteriorated during a shoot.

She experienced heart-related discomfort, prompting her immediate admission to the hospital’s ICU.

Reports added that doctors carried out several medical procedures to stabilize her condition, including an angiography, a process where dye is injected into the bloodstream to look for blockages in vessels.

According to the doctors, her condition was “critical upon arrival”, and if timely medical help had not been provided, “the situation could have been life-threatening.” Fortunately, her condition improved and continues to do so.

Reports citing sources close to the actress revealed that she was working on a major project and had been under severe mental stress and exhaustion. Doctors attributed her health scare to “lack of sleep and extreme work pressure.”

Saba Qamar didn’t post Eid pics and now we know why

While most celebrities flooded social media with their glammed-up Eid photos, actress Saba Qamar surprised fans by choosing silence, rest, and zero Eid content.

As curious fans flooded her inbox, wondering why she hadn’t posted any festive photos or stories, the actress finally broke her silence through a heartfelt Instagram note.

“My loves, I know so many of you were waiting to see my Eid look this time, and I just want to say… there wasn’t one. I didn’t wear anything special, didn’t dress up, and for once, I didn’t feel like I needed to.”

Explaining her decision, Saba Qamar shared that after months of relentless work and constant travel, her heart was quietly asking for a break and she chose to listen.

“This Eid, I chose rest. Pure, simple, soulful rest. I spent these three days lying down, oil in my hair, good food in front of me, quiet prayers in my heart, and a whole lot of healing.”

She emphasized the importance of pausing and reconnecting with oneself. “Sometimes, we have to pause, breathe, and come home to ourselves. This Eid, I did just that. No glam, no noise, just me-time.”

But fans need not worry Saba is ready to bounce back, “Now… I’m back in action starting tomorrow! And I promise, I’ll make it up to you all very soon. Thank you for always holding space for me for understanding, loving, and supporting me, even when I disappear for a bit.”

In a personal message to her followers, she added a gentle reminder, “Always listen to your heart when it whispers, ‘Rest.’”
