  • Five Sikh soldiers killed as Indian Army units open fire on each other in Kashmir

Five Sikh soldiers killed as Indian Army units open fire on each other in Kashmir

In a shocking incident, two units of the Indian Army on the night between April 25 and 26 reportedly opened fire on each other along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the deaths of five Sikh soldiers.

As per the details, the 185 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), stationed in the Baramulla sector of held Kashmir, opened fire on the 13 Sikh Light Infantry Regiment of the 12th Brigade in the Japala Bridge area.

The exchange of fire among the Indian units has reportedly left Sikh soldiers of the 13 Sikh Light Regiment enraged, reports said.

Cause of the incident has not yet been revealed.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army on Tuesday shot down an Indian quadcopter for violating airspace along the LoC, state-run Radio Pakistan and PTV News reported citing security sources.

Reports said that Pakistan Army, while acting swiftly, foiled the enemy’s malicious intention of attempting to conduct surveillance using a quadcopter in the Manawar sector of Bhimber.

“The Pakistan Army is always ready to give an immediate and effective response to any aggression from the enemy,” reports quoted a statement as saying.

It merits a mention that both incidents come amid escalating tensions and war rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

  • Umar Akmal is disappointed with former teammate’s behaviour

Umar Akmal is disappointed with former teammate’s behaviour

Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal has shared that he is disappointed with former teammate Zulqarnain Haider, saying that Haider has returned to his old ways even after Akmal supported him during a very difficult time.

In a recent interview, Akmal said he chose not to take legal action against Haider, even though he could have.  “I have no resentment towards anyone. If I wanted, I could have sent him a legal notice, but I didn’t because I knew about his financial situation,” Akmal said.

The batsman also revealed that he was one of the first people to visit Haider in 2022 when he was seriously ill and financially helped him. He said it was his wife who encouraged him to do so. “My wife was the first among those people who motivated me to take that step,” he said.

However, Akmal said that since Haider recovered, he has again started behaving in the same way. “Recently, when he recovered, he once again started doing the same things, and I think that what people really are but I will still take it positively,” he added.

The two cricketers had a falling out in the past when Haider accused Akmal of damaging his career. That created a lot of tension between them.

Zulqarnain Haider was once a rising star as a wicketkeeper, but he became controversial in 2010 when he suddenly left the national team during a tour of Dubai.

He claimed he had received threats to his safety. Though he returned to domestic cricket later, he could not make a comeback to the national team.

  • Saba Faisal says she refused Indian ad offer weeks before Kashmir attack

Saba Faisal says she refused Indian ad offer weeks before Kashmir attack

Senior actress Saba Faisal revealed on Nida Yasir’s morning show that she was recently offered an advertisement for a well-known Indian brand, but fortunately, she turned it down.

“Tensions between Pakistan and India have increased in recent days, and India is making baseless allegations,” she said.

“Just as the Indian government is accusing us after the incident in Pahalgam, occupied Kashmir, and their artists are supporting their government, we should do the same,” she added.

“We, as Pakistani artists, should support our government and our homeland, and give a clear message in response to the allegations,” she said.

Referring to the recent tension between Pakistan and India, she expressed gratitude that she had refused the Indian advertisement offer two months ago.

“Two months ago, I was offered to work in an Indian advertisement and was initially supportive of the idea,” Saba Faisal revealed.

“I don’t know why I refused the offer at that time, but now I feel it was the right decision,” she shared, adding, “I was ready to work, but then they asked me to audition, and I refused.”

“I’m a senior actress,” she said. “I didn’t have time to audition. So, I directly told the director that I wouldn’t do the advertisement.”

According to Saba Faisal, the director’s assistant was “stunned” after she declined the offer and called her asking “why and how” she refused.

She concluded, “After the recent Pak-India tension, I feel even more confident about my decision. If I had done that ad, I don’t know what people would be saying today.”

These teams may face elimination in PSL 2025

As HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 enters a crucial stage, the race for the top four spots is heating up, and some teams are already in danger of missing out on the playoffs.

With Islamabad United dominating the tournament, others like Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans are slipping behind and may soon be out of the top-four contention if they fail to bounce back quickly.

Islamabad United remain unbeaten with five wins in five games, comfortably sitting at the top with 10 points and a strong net run rate of 2.342. Their recent win over Multan Sultans was another statement of their dominance.

Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators are tied at six points each and are in the middle of a tight battle for playoff spots. Lahore recently defeated Multan by five wickets, improving their net run rate. Karachi, however, suffered a narrow loss to Quetta, who also beat Zalmi in a high-scoring clash.

At the bottom, Peshawar Zalmi have only won two out of six games, while Multan Sultans have just one win. Both teams must win their upcoming matches to stay in the race.

An important clash between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans is coming up later this week, which could decide their playoff fate. Meanwhile, Islamabad United’s next match is against Lahore Qalandars in what promises to be a high-stakes contest.

Under the PSL’s double round-robin format, each team plays every other team twice. The top four will move on to the playoffs.

  • Pro-PTI, pro-PML-N guests air dirty laundry on Arnab Goswami’s show

Pro-PTI, pro-PML-N guests air dirty laundry on Arnab Goswami’s show

Two Pakistani guests ended up fighting and abusing each other live on air during the programme of warmongering Indian anchor Arnab Goswami on Monday, where they were invited to give their analysis on the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian-Occupied Kashmir.

Representing Pakistan on Indian channel Republic TV, Abdul Samad Yaqoob, claiming affiliation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Irshad Khan, who claimed to be associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), hurled accusations at each other live on air.

The verbal spat reportedly erupted when Irshad accused Yaqoob of speaking against Pakistani institutions.

“I am proud of being a Pakistani soldier. I feel sorry for the Abdul Samad Yaqoob type of shameless person who speaks against state institutions… His words will lead him to consequences,” Irshad said.

Yaqoob hit back, alleging that Irshad does not belong to the PML-N, but “is a stooge of an intelligence agency”.

Yaqoob’s harsh language prompted Irshad to call him back “a PTI stooge”. To which Yaqoob replied, “I am a soldier of Imran Khan.”

“You should be proud of being a Pakistani,” Irshad says to Yaqoob, to which the latter, while deflecting from the debate, brought the Pakistan national politics into the Indian screen. He began telling Irshad about the recent arrest of PTI worker Sanam Javed.

During the whole show, the notorious Goswami repeatedly tried to escalate the argument between the two, pushing for a more intense confrontation.

Moments later, PML-N’s Uzma Kardar joined the debate. Maintaining that Yaqoob had gone “bonkers”, she said, Yaqoob was a supporter of a man “who for more than three years kept saying ‘I am on one page with the establishment”.

With Kardar and Yaqoob at each other’s throats, Goswami chimed in, “Look at what’s happening inside Pakistan… these people are going to fight us. They’re gonna attack us.”

Yaqoob descended to personal attacks on Kardar, calling her unworthy and age-shaming her.

  • London Marathon 2025 sets two Guinness World Records

London Marathon 2025 sets two Guinness World Records

London Marathon 2025 has made history by setting two Guinness World Records, solidifying its place as one of the biggest and most iconic long-distance running events in the world.

Guinness World Records confirmed that London Marathon 2025 broke the record for the most finishers in a marathon, with an astonishing 56,649 runners completing in the 26.2-mile race. This surpasses the previous record set by the New York Marathon, which had 55,646 finishers during its chilly November event. Remarkably, London achieved the milestone despite holding the race in warmer spring weather.

The second world record was for the highest number of applicants for a marathon ballot. A record-breaking 840,318 people applied to participate in this year’s London Marathon, as verified by Guinness World Records.

According to BBC Sport, there was a 105 percent increase in applications from people aged 20 to 29. Additionally, 49 percent of the total applications from the UK were submitted by women, indicating a growing interest and gender balance in marathon participation.

Born in 1981, the London Marathon is not only a major athletic event but also the world’s largest annual one-day fundraising event. To date, it has raised an incredible $1.73 billion (approximately £1.3 billion) for charities.

Notably, this isn’t the first time the London Marathon has earned a world record. In 2020, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually. That year, 37,966 participants from around the world joined in, setting a record for the most people to run a remote marathon within a 24-hour period.

The London Marathon continues to inspire athletes and everyday people alike, combining sport, charity, and community on a global scale.

  • ‘Plagiarise now, apologise never’: Zahra Sarfraz accuses Lux Style Awards winner of theft

‘Plagiarise now, apologise never’: Zahra Sarfraz accuses Lux Style Awards winner of theft

A well-known stylist, Zahra Sarfaraz from the Pakistani fashion industry, has made a bold claim that Hussain Ijaz, who recently won the Stylist of the Year award at the Lux Style Awards, allegedly stole her creative work.

Taking to social media, Zahra didn’t hold back. She accused Hussain of submitting her work as his own to the LSA jury. “Not being nominated is fine,” she wrote. “But watching my work represent someone else’s nomination? Now that’s comedy.”

She backed her claim with screenshots and images, calling them “undeniable proof.” She also took a direct shot at the Lux Style Awards jury, saying: “The @luxstylepk jury’s ‘competence’ really said: plagiarize now, apologize never. You didn’t just shoot yourselves in the foot—you blew the whole leg off this year.”

Fans and members of the fashion community are demanding action.

Some comments read: “Glad Zahra Sarfaraz spoke up. She’s always been bold and honest—more people need to be like her.”

“That’s rude. These things need to stop, please.”

“The person should be penalized and the award must be revoked! It’s a joke!”

As of now, the Lux Style Awards team has not responded to the controversy.

For Zahra, the issue is bigger than just a trophy, but about integrity in an industry that thrives on originality.

  • Indians want to boycott Turkey on support for Pakistan

Indians want to boycott Turkey on support for Pakistan

A wave of online outrage is sweeping Indian social media, with calls to boycott Turkey intensifying in response to unverified reports that Turkish military planes delivered arms to Pakistan — India’s historic rival and fellow nuclear power. The backlash, unfolding in the wake of a deadly terror attack in Indian-Occupied Kashmir that killed Indian tourists, has pushed Turkey into South Asia’s escalating digital cold war.

Several open-source intelligence accounts have claimed that Turkish Air Force C-130s arrived in Pakistan, allegedly carrying weapons and missile systems. Although these claims have not been confirmed by authorities in either Turkey or India, they have gone viral, fueling nationalist sentiments and online public outrage.

“Turkey is equipping Pakistan, and we’re still purchasing their marble and booking their beaches?” one tweet questioned.

“Boycott Turkey. Cancel your vacations. Contribute to the cause,” urged another.

Turkish President Erdoğan advocates for peace, but few are listening

Compounding the situation was a statement from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday, just days after the attack in Kashmir.

“Turkey wants a de-escalation between Pakistan and India,” Erdoğan commented during a press conference in Ankara after his cabinet meeting.

While framed as a peace initiative, Erdoğan’s remarks were aimed at reducing friction between the two nuclear states. However, in the heated online climate, his statements have been met with scepticism, especially in light of his 2020 address to the Pakistani parliament, where he compared Kashmir to Turkey’s own historical battles and asserted: “Kashmir is as crucial to us as it is to Pakistan.”

    From rumours to repercussions

Despite the lack of concrete evidence, nationalist influencers and public figures in India are calling for economic retaliation, from suspending tourism to halting imports of Turkish goods such as textiles, gold, and marble.

“Why should we enrich a country that backs our enemy?” one user asked.

There’s also a growing push to label Turkey as a state sponsor of terrorism, a demand rooted in its perceived ideological alignment with Pakistan on matters like Kashmir.

The anger online has also revived historical grievances, with some users accusing Turkey of a deep-seated anti-India bias that transcends political regimes. One tweet provocatively linked this alignment to “bitterness over the fall of the Mughal Empire,” referring to India’s Turkic-origin Islamic rulers.

    Pak-Turk response

Turkish and Pakistani netizens were quick to clap back. Several Turkish users mocked Indian outrage, tweeting,

“Indians, please don’t come to Turkey — not just because of politics, but because it’ll help reduce our pollution levels.”

Others joked about Indian purchasing power:

“Yeah, like you can even afford a Turkey trip.”

The insults weren’t limited to the Turkey-Pakistan alliance. In response to the Indian outrage, users resurfaced a damning Times of India front-page article reporting how Indian families are abandoning their children at U.S. borders to secure illegal immigration routes, calling it the “real national embarrassment.”

A New Point of Contention in the Digital Cold War

This incident is yet another example of the ongoing pattern of digital animosity between India, Pakistan, and their associated allies. Turkey has frequently expressed its support for Pakistan regarding Kashmir and other regional matters, positioning itself diplomatically against India.

What distinguishes this case is how misinformation, speculation, and national pride intersect on platforms like Twitter. Accusations—regardless of their validity—quickly escalate into nationalistic trends. Demands for economic separation are proposed without consideration for the practical realities or existing bilateral interdependence.
