  • Australian YouTube channel forced to remove all IPL content after BCCI warning

Australian YouTube channel forced to remove all IPL content after BCCI warning

Popular Australian YouTube channel The Grade Cricketer has been told by Indian cricket authorities to take down all videos related to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

As per the details, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL officials have sent a legal notice to the one-million-subscribers-strong channel featuring podcasts hosted by Sam Perry and Ian Higgins.

Indian cricketing authorities have warned them against using IPL photos and logos for “commercial purposes” and making money off of content featuring official images.

To avoid getting banned or suspended from platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X, the hosts quickly removed all IPL-related videos, reports said, adding that their daily IPL show, The Big IPL Breakfast, might also need a name change to stay safe legally.

It may be noted that the issue started because The Grade Cricketer used still images from IPL matches in their videos, which brands also sponsored. BCCI allows the use of match photos for news and reporting (editorial purposes) but not when money is being made from them (commercial use).

Despite the takedown, the podcast will continue talking about the IPL without using official pictures or team names. The hosts also plan to organise live shows in India during the tournament.

‘Pakistan Jindabad’: Indian accounts share fake army notification

A notification widely shared by Indians on social media claiming mass resignations in the Pakistan Army following an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir has been found to be fake.

Claim: The notification was initially shared by an Indian account named Aditya Raj Kaul, with the caption “Huge. Mass resignations are being reported in the Pakistan Army as morale is at its lowest under Asim Munir’s leadership.”

The notification with the subject “Reinforcing Duty and Discipline” reads, “The incident done by our mujahideens in Pahalgam has escalated, and now there are fears of war with India, leading to huge requests for resignation and desertion among army personnel.”

One directive given in the document reads, “As mujahideen of Pakistan, your commitment to defend is sacred. Reject fear and stand firm.”

In another directive, it has been asserted that any unauthorised resignation or desertion from service will face strict action under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952.

Fact: The notification was found to be fake, as it bore the name of Major General Faisal Mehmood Malik, HI (M), Director General, Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR).

The current DG ISPR is Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

The notification ends with “Pakistan Jinabad”, a misspelt version of the patriotic slogan “Pakistan Zindabad.”

Viewing the visible mistakes, the notification proved to be fake.

  • ‘Saim Ayub is my teammate’: Alzarri Joseph reminds Zainab Abbas after live interview blunder

‘Saim Ayub is my teammate’: Alzarri Joseph reminds Zainab Abbas after live interview blunder

Pakistani anchor Zainab Abbas made a funny mistake while interviewing West Indian fast bowler Alzarri Joseph after the Peshawar Zalmi vs. Quetta Gladiators match on April 27.

Joseph, who is playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing PSL 2025, performed well with the ball, taking three wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs.

Joseph’s key wickets included Finn Allen, Kusal Mendis, and Faheem Ashraf. After the match, Zainab Abbas interviewed him but made a blunder when she asked him about dismissing Saim Ayub, forgetting that they are teammates at Peshawar Zalmi.

She asked, “Do you have any specific plan for somebody like Saim Ayub? You got all the important wickets. He has struggled in the PSL, but he’s always a crucial wicket because he can sort of take the game away.”

Joseph was surprised and responded, “Excuse me, who’s that?”

Zainab, not realizing her mistake, tried again and said, “Saim Ayub.”

Joseph, politely reminding her, replied, “That’s my teammate.”

Zainab then realized her blunder and quickly corrected herself, saying, “I’m saying, sorry, what I’m trying to ask is that, you know, you’ve been facing him in the net.”

Unfortunately for Joseph, his efforts with the ball were not enough to help Peshawar Zalmi, as they lost to Quetta Gladiators by 64 runs. The Gladiators batted first, scoring 178/7 in 20 overs, with no batter scoring fifty but three players crossing the 30-run mark.

In reply, Zalmi were all out for just 114 runs. Hussain Talat was the only notable performer with the bat, scoring 39. Faheem Ashraf took five wickets for the Gladiators, leading them to victory.

The romantic track, sung by Arijit Singh, is often perceived as a breakup anthem. In the movie, Ayan (played by Ranbir Kapoor) sings the song at the wedding of his true love, Alizeh (played by Anushka Sharma), as he struggles with heartbreak.

According to reports, the song brought back memories of the groom’s ex-girlfriend. Overwhelmed with emotion, he decided to cancel the wedding, and the entire wedding party (baarat) had to return home. The incident quickly spread across social media.

  • India suspends 16 Pakistani YouTube channels

India suspends 16 Pakistani YouTube channels

Sixteen Pakistani YouTube channels, including Geo News, Dawn News and The Pakistan Experience, have been blocked in India for allegedly spreading provocative and communally sensitive content following the attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

Samaa TV, ARY News, Bol News, Raftar, Suno News HD, GNN, Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, Umar Cheema Exclusive, Muneeb Farooq Samaa Sports, Uzair Cricket and Razi Naama have also been blocked in India.

The combined subscribers of these 16 YouTube channels amount to 63.08 million, with Geo News having the highest number at 18.1 million subscribers.

Indian media quoted sources in the government as reporting that the now-banned YouTube channels have been allegedly spreading a false narrative against India and its security agencies.

Indians within their country trying to access the channels are being greeted by the following message: “This content is currently unavailable in this country because of an order from the government related to national security or public order. For more details about government removal requests, please visit the Google Transparency Report (transparencyreport.google.com).”

The move comes as Pakistan and India face off in the wake of the attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last week in which 26 people, including a Nepalese national, were killed.

The Narendra Modi-led government has also warned the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) over a headline that read: “Pakistan suspends visas for Indians after deadly Kashmir attack on tourists”, alleging that the headline made it appear as if India killed the tourists.

Indian media further quoted sources as claiming that the External Publicity Department of the Ministry of External Affairs has said the country’s “strong sentiments” have been conveyed to the India Head for BBC Jackie Martin, regarding their reporting on the Pahalgam attack.

A formal letter to the BBC framing “terrorists” as “militants” has also been sent. The government will monitor BBC’s reporting, Indian media reported, while quoting sources.

Following the attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which lies on the route of a Hindu pilgrimage to a cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, the annual Amarnath Yatra, making it one of the most heavily protected regions of Indian-held Jammu and Kashmir, India had made several decision regarding unilaterally suspending the long standing Indus Water Treaty (IWT).

In retaliation, Pakistan,  among other measures, closed its airspace for Indian airlines and declared the military, air force and navy advisers at the Indian High Commission as persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country immediately but not later than April 30.

  • Paresh Rawal reveals he has drank his own urine ‘like beer’

Paresh Rawal reveals he has drank his own urine ‘like beer’

Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal recently shared a story about how an unusual piece of advice helped him recover faster from a serious injury.

During the shooting of Rajkumar Santoshi’s film Ghatak, Paresh suffered a knee injury and was rushed to Nanavati Hospital by Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa. Doctors told him it would take around three months for him to fully recover.

Action choreographer Veeru Devgan found out that Paresh had been admitted while he was visiting for another reason. Paresh said, “Veeru Devgan came to visit when I was in Nanavati (hospital). When he found out I was there, he came up to me and asked what happened. I told him about my knee injury.”

Veeru then gave him an unusual suggestion.

“He told me to drink my own urine first thing in the morning,” Paresh revealed.

Veeru also advised him to stay away from alcohol, red meat, and smoking during his recovery.

“He said all action people do that,” Paresh recalled him saying.

Talking about how he followed the advice, Paresh shared, “I had decided if I had to drink my own urine, I wouldn’t have it all at once; I’d sip it like beer. Because I wanted to do it properly.”

He added, “I did this for 15 days. Fifteen days later, when the doctor took my X-ray, he was shocked. The doctor asked me, ‘How did this cementing happen?’ He could see a white line forming.”

Thanks to the unexpected remedy, Paresh recovered much faster than expected. “I was supposed to be discharged in 2-2.5 months, but I was discharged in 1.5 months. It was like magic,” he said.

Fans were shocked after hearing this revelation. One commented, “Paresh Rawal just ruined beer for me.” Another wrote, “How is this even possible?” and some thought it was unbelievable, saying, “This is information I really didn’t need.”

On the work front, Paresh Rawal was last seen in The Storyteller, in which he played Tarini Bandyopadhyay. He also has several upcoming projects, including Bhoot Bangla with Akshay Kumar, Thama with Ayushmann Khurrana, and Hera Pheri 3 alongside Akshay and Suniel Shetty.

  • Yemen’s Huthi says 68 killed in US strikes on migrant centre

Yemen’s Huthi says 68 killed in US strikes on migrant centre

Huthi-affiliated media in Yemen said Monday that US strikes targeted a migrant detention centre and killed at least 68 people and wounded 50 in Saada.

The US military has hammered the Huthis with near-daily strikes since March 15 in an operation dubbed “Rough Rider,” seeking to end what they deem a threat to vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The Huthis launched strikes targeting Israel and Western vessels in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians after Israel intensified its genocide in Gaza since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023.

The Israeli genocide has killed at least 52,243 Palestinians and injured 117,639.

On Sunday, the military said it has hit more than 800 targets in Yemen since mid-March, killing hundreds of Huthi rebels, including members of the group’s leadership.

On Monday, Huthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV said US strikes had targeted a detention centre for African migrants, and that 35 bodies had been “pulled from the rubble”.

Civil defence teams and the Red Crescent are continuing their efforts at the scene of the American crime,” it said.

AFP could not independently confirm the veracity of Al-Masirah’s claim that the strikes had hit a migrant detention centre, or the toll.

AFP has contacted the US military for comment.

According to a statement cited by Al-Masirah from the Huthi administration’s interior ministry, the centre housed “115 migrants, all from Africa”.

The broadcaster showed footage of bodies stuck under the rubble and of rescuers working to help the casualties.

    – ‘We will continue’ –

The Huthis began targeting shipping in late 2023, preventing ships from passing through the Suez Canal — a vital route that normally carries about 12 percent of global trade — forcing many companies into a costly detour around the tip of southern Africa.

In a statement that provided its most detailed accounting of the operation so far, the US military command responsible for the Middle East said: “Since the start of Operation Rough Rider, USCENTCOM has struck over 800 targets.

“These strikes have killed hundreds of Huthi fighters and numerous Huthi leaders.”

“The strikes have destroyed multiple command-and-control facilities, air defence systems, advanced weapons manufacturing facilities, and advanced weapons storage locations,” CENTCOM said.

Despite the strikes, the Huthis — who control large swaths of Yemen and have been at war with a Saudi-led coalition backing the internationally recognised government since 2015 — have continued to claim attacks against both US vessels and Israel.

CENTCOM said that “while the Huthis have continued to attack our vessels, our operations have degraded the pace and effectiveness of their attacks. Ballistic missile launches have dropped by 69 percent. Additionally, attacks from one-way attack drones have decreased by 55 percent.”

“Iran undoubtedly continues to provide support to the Huthis. The Huthis can only continue to attack our forces with the backing of the Iranian regime,” the military command said.

“We will continue to ratchet up the pressure until the objective is met, which remains the restoration of freedom of navigation and American deterrence in the region,” it added.

    – Strikes on Sanaa –

Al-Masirah TV on Sunday reported that US strikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa had killed at least eight people and wounded others.

The channel also broadcast footage of the rubble of destroyed homes and cars, as well as blood stains on the ground, while rescuers collected what appeared to be human remains in white cloth.

Also on Sunday, Huthi media said earlier strikes on Sanaa had killed two people and wounded several more.

The United States first began conducting strikes against the Huthis under Joe Biden’s administration, and President Donald Trump has vowed that military action against the rebels will continue until they are no longer a threat to shipping.
