Ushna Shah vows to quit cosmetic procedures after disastrous filler

Renowned actress Ushna Shah has revealed that she once underwent a cosmetic procedure that turned out to be dangerous, leaving her with serious side effects.

During a conversation with actress Sarah Asghar on her show, she shared her traumatic experience with fillers and the lasting damage they caused.

Speaking about her struggles with dark spots due to lack of sleep, she said:

“I barely sleep—sometimes just one or two hours—which causes dark spots on my face. To treat them, I used to get fillers.”

However, she recalled a horrifying incident where she went to a salon for her regular filler treatment.

“The salon staff assured me they could do fillers, but they mixed something else into the injections. Right after the procedure, my eyes swelled up badly, and I faced serious complications.”

She further explained that she had to massage her face continuously to reduce the swelling before getting the fillers removed.

She admitted that the botched procedure worsened her skin condition.

“Instead of improving my skin, it left me with even darker scars under my eyes and on my cheeks. After this horrible experience, I have decided never to get fillers again.”

Ushna Shah added that she had never spoken about her cosmetic procedures before but felt it was important to share her experience to warn others.

Lahore man arrested for keeping lion in cage on rooftop

Punjab Wildlife Department has seized a lion from a residence in Lahore’s Iqbal Town following a raid, arresting the owner for illegally keeping the wild animal on his rooftop.

The operation was carried out in response to a social media video that went viral and involved a man named Azhar Mehmood taking a photo with the lion.

The Punjab Wildlife Department claims that Azhar Mehmood housed the lion on his home’s rooftop in an illegal cage. According to the authorities, the barrier did not adhere to the necessary safety regulations.

It is against the Wildlife Act to keep wild animals without a license and to advertise their presence in public.

People who are caught keeping lions or other wild animals without the proper permission, displaying them in public, or promoting them on social media could be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined Rs 5 million, according to the Punjab government’s recent, stricter amendments to wildlife protection laws.

Maryam Aurangzeb, Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture, praised the Wildlife Department’s quick response to the incident. She underlined that breaking rules protecting animals will have legal consequences for everyone.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered that these regulations be closely followed in order to ensure the safety and well-being of animals, the minister added.

The captured lion has been sent to a safe location where it will get the care it needs, according to authorities. To find out how the lion was obtained and whether there were any more offenses, the Wildlife Department is still looking into the matter.

The incident has raised public awareness on the value of appropriate wildlife protection procedures. To help guarantee that wildlife laws are strictly enforced throughout the province, officials have asked residents to report any similar incidents.

  • Andy Roberts calls ICC the ‘Indian Cricket Board’

Andy Roberts calls ICC the ‘Indian Cricket Board’

West Indies cricket legend and former fast bowler Andy Roberts has openly criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC), alleging that it favours the Indian cricket board.

Speaking about India’s influence in world cricket, Roberts stated, “India was given an advantage in last year’s T20 World Cup as well. They already knew where they would play their semi-final. How is it possible that a team does not have to travel at all in a tournament?”

Expressing his frustration, the former pacer said, “The ICC stands for the Indian Cricket Board. India dictates everything. If tomorrow India says there should be no no-balls or wide balls, the ICC will find a way to make it happen.”

Roberts concluded by saying, “India cannot have everything its way. The ICC must stand up to them and say no.”

Despite the criticism, Rohit Sharma defended India’s position, stating that his team also had to adapt to Dubai’s conditions like any other location.

“It’s not like we know what’s going to happen on these pitches. It’s not our home either. We don’t play many matches here, so it’s new for us as well,” Rohit said before India’s semi-final against Australia.

India lifted the Champions Trophy after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final.

It merits mention that the tournament was officially hosted in Pakistan. However, India played all their matches in Dubai after the BCCI took a stance, claiming that the Indian government had refused permission for the team to travel to Pakistan.

As a result, a hybrid model was adopted, with India’s matches being played in Dubai while other teams had to shuttle between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) multiple times besides playing matches in different Pakistani cities. This travel-heavy schedule has sparked debates about fairness, with players expressing concerns over fatigue and competitive disadvantages.

This travel-heavy schedule has sparked debates about fairness, with players expressing concerns over fatigue and competitive disadvantages.

Based on a report by the Reddit page r/Cricket (1.7 million members), here is how much teams travelled during the event, and the disparity is striking.

India: 0 KM (All matches played in Dubai)
    England & Afghanistan: 1,020 km
    Bangladesh: 1,953 km
    Australia: 2,509 km
    Pakistan: 3,133 km
    South Africa: 3,286 km
    New Zealand: 7,048 km

While finalists New Zealand, in particular, faced the biggest travel burden, covering over 7,000 km, India made it to the final, comfortably in Dubai without any travel stress.

Pakistan, despite being the official host, had to travel over 3,100 km, while Australia also endured over 2,500 km of travel before the crucial knockout matches.

  • Farshi fever is THE raging Eid look

Farshi fever is THE raging Eid look

If there’s one thing fashion-conscious Pakistanis can’t stop obsessing over this season, it’s the farshi shalwar. The floor-grazing, wide-legged bottom has become the ultimate Eid classic, appearing on social media feeds, celebrity wardrobes, and even prime-time game shows.

Who started the farshi fever? The debate is on!

While every other girl’s Eid outfit seems to feature a farshi shalwar, the question remains—who really brought it back on the rack?

Sara Ali, a prominent makeup artist in Pakistan, recently credited the revival of the trend to Sadaf Kanwal’s brand. However, netizens were not entirely convinced. Some suggested that designer Hussain Rehar had actually reintroduced the farshi shalwar phenomenon, enhancing it with his distinct bold designs and lively hues. Others argued that actress Anmol Baloch was the real trendsetter when she wore it in her drama Iqtidar.

Then there’s Ayeza Khan, who subtly dismissed any skepticism regarding the trend’s dominance by posting a photo on Instagram, proudly stating, “This is my 77th farshi shalwar of the season, and I’m still loving it.” Now that’s some serious dedication!

    Even Fahad Mustafa is curious

The farshi shalwars fever isn’t just limited to women. While hosting Jeeto Pakistan, Fahad Mustafa couldn’t resist inquiring about the trend’s widespread appeal. Playfully addressing Shaista Lodhi, he asked, “What’s the deal with this farshi shalwar? Can I wear one too?” His comment had the audience in stitches, but let’s be real—if anyone can effortlessly rock a trend, it’s Fahad Mustafa.

A nod to history: The regal beginnings of Farshi Shalwars

Although farshi shalwars are currently trending as a top fashion choice, they have a rich history in South Asia. Historically, these lavishly flared pants were worn by women during the Mughal era, designed to glide along the floor (with “farsh” meaning “floor” in Persian). At that time, they represented luxury and sophistication, typically paired with embroidered kameezes and dupattas. Now, centuries later, they’ve made a grand comeback—blending regal elegance with modern silhouettes.

    Eid 2025: Farshi or nothing?

With prominent celebrities showcasing them and designers making them the focal point of their Eid collections, it’s clear that farshi shalwars are likely to be around for this festive season—at least. So whether you support Hussain Rehar, Sadaf Kanwal, or Anmol Baloch, one thing is certain: if you’re not wearing a farshi shalwar this Eid, are you truly celebrating?

  • Jaffar Express hijack: Security forces rescue 155 hostages, eliminate 27 terrorists

Jaffar Express hijack: Security forces rescue 155 hostages, eliminate 27 terrorists

The rescue operation for the Jaffar Express is underway, with security forces successfully rescuing around 155 hostages and eliminating at least 27 terrorists who had hijacked the train in Balochistan’s Bolan district on Tuesday.

An unknown number of terrorists bombed the railway track before storming the train near the Bolan Pass, opening fire on the locomotive and injuring the driver. The train was hijacked when it stopped just before a tunnel in a remote, mountainous region.

The train, carrying over 400 passengers in nine bogies, was en route from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) when it came under attack. Among the hostages were a number of security personnel, a leading English newspaper reported.

The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they had taken a significant number of people hostage.

The hijacking was an unprecedented event, as terrorists had never previously attempted to seize an entire train along with its passengers.

According to reports, the security forces’ operation forced the militants to split into small groups. Meanwhile, 17 injured passengers were shifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Media sources claimed that the attackers were using satellite phones to communicate with international handlers, including a mastermind in Afghanistan. They were also using women and children as human shields, forcing security forces to exercise extreme caution during the operation.

Speaking to a private media outlet later in the day, Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control Talal Chaudhry claimed that the assailants had taken some passengers to a nearby mountainous area.

“They [terrorists] are using women and children as human shields, which is why security forces are proceeding with caution,” he said.

The minister dismissed claims that the attackers had voluntarily released women and children, clarifying that the hostages were rescued through the efforts of security forces.

Chaudhry urged the international community to stand with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. “There is concrete evidence that these terrorists receive support from Afghanistan,” he said, adding that Afghan drug money was funding them.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express and praised the security forces for their “effective action” in rescuing passengers.

“Attacks on innocent citizens and passengers are inhumane and heinous acts. Those who attack passengers are against Balochistan and its traditions.” Zardari said in a statement from the Presidency.

“The Baloch nation rejects those who attack and take hostages innocent passengers, elders and children. No religion or society allows such heinous acts,” he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack, stating that targeting innocent passengers during the holy month of Ramzan was proof that the terrorists had no connection to Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan.

  • Shahid Afridi exposes corruption in Pakistan cricket selection

Shahid Afridi exposes corruption in Pakistan cricket selection

Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has made shocking revelations, claiming that players are selected for the national team based on money and favouritism rather than merit. He questioned, “How will the team progress under such circumstances?”

According to reports, during a discussion on a private TV channel, Afridi stated, “I don’t want any contract from the board. I have always said that whenever you need me, I am available. I am ready to work at the grassroots level.”

Afridi also emphasized that Mohammad Yousuf’s expertise is needed more at the National Cricket Academy than with the national team. He said, “The team doesn’t need Mohammad Yousuf’s services as much as the National Cricket Academy does. He should work with batsmen on their techniques and help them improve.”

The former all-rounder stated, “I don’t understand why our star players only want coaching or official positions with the national team.”

Afridi further revealed, “At the Under-13, Under-16, and Under-19 levels, regional presidents take money from players or select them based on favouritism. How will cricket move forward this way?”

He concluded by saying, “When you don’t provide justice to a player from the very beginning, what kind of results are you expecting?”

Earlier, Afridi had also strongly reacted to swing legend Wasim Akram’s suggestion of making major changes in the national cricket team.

Following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy, Wasim Akram, along with several other former cricketers, had expressed disappointment and suggested that five to six senior players should be dropped. He had argued that despite their presence, the national team had failed to win major tournaments.

Speaking on Ten Sports, Wasim Akram had criticized players like Mohammad Rizwan and urged selectors to make bold decisions to improve the team. He had emphasized that Pakistan should have started planning for the 2026 T20 World Cup immediately.

“We had been losing despite having these players for years. The time had come to make five to six big changes in the team. Even if we had to endure defeats for six months, we should have supported and given opportunities to young players,” Wasim Akram had stated.

However, Shahid Afridi, while speaking on a private TV channel, had questioned Akram’s remarks and asked, “Wasim Bhai should have told me, if we dropped five or six players, did we have replacements ready to take their place?”

Afridi had added that removing big names from the squad could have also led to criticism, and if the desired results had still not materialized, then what would have been the next step?

He had further stated, “When new players came in, they would have used the excuse that they were preparing for the World Cup, and then the process of ‘surgery’ would have started all over again.”

It merits mention that Pakistan had been knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy in the first round after suffering humiliating defeats against New Zealand and India.

  • Boy, 12, killed by gunshot while recording TikTok

Boy, 12, killed by gunshot while recording TikTok

A 12-year-old boy lost his life in Karachi after a bullet hit him while he was using his smartphone to record a video, a leading newspaper has reported.

Nawaz’s parents were not at home when the incident took place, according to information provided by Farooq, the uncle of the deceased child, who confirmed that the family owned a licensed firearm.

Nawaz was recording a video with his cell phone when the fatal shot was fired, Farooq has confirmed.

According to a close relative, the death was much more traumatic for the family because Nawaz was the only child of his parents.

The relative further said that during the time of the event, Nawaz was reportedly creating a TikTok video.  No other family members were home when the bullet hit the child as his parents had gone shopping.

Authorities are trying to determine the specifics of how Nawaz obtained the pistol, but the circumstances are yet unknown.

Nawaz’s father had been unemployed for a long time, Farooq added, which worsened the family’s situation. The family kept a licensed firearm in spite of their financial difficulties.

In order to determine the specific series of circumstances that resulted in the boy’s death, the police have launched an investigation.

Further details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
