Lahore’s car community unites to make six-year-old’s dream come true

What started as a simple social media request turned into a heartwarming community event in Lahore, as dozens of exotic car owners came together to make a young boy’s dream come true.

The boy’s father posted a request on social media on June 9th, specifically addressing Lahore automobile owners, particularly those from Valencia, Bahria Town, and Lake City. His six-year-old kid, who loves cars, wanted to get a close look at exotic vehicles.

The post quickly went viral, capturing the attention of Pakistan’s car community. Prominent auto influencers including PakWheels’ Suneel Sarfraz Munj, and Bilal Munir, a Tech content creator, also saw the appeal.

Soon, car owners from across the city began responding, eager to bring smiles to the young vehicle enthusiast.

In the days that followed, an informal but specially organized car meet-up took place, drawing in a lineup of luxury and exotic vehicles.

The little boy, accompanied by his twin sister, was given the chance to see and even sit inside some of his dream cars, surrounded by supportive car enthusiasts.

After the event, the father shared an update and expressed his appreciation:

“Few days ago, I requested the awesome people here with such cars to show up so my son can see them up close and man, the Pakistanis didn’t disappoint! He got the best exposure to your cars and I hope it remains a wonderful memory of his lifetime.”

The heartwarming moment went viral on the internet, with many people appreciating the generosity and goodwill of those who made a simple wish into an experience.

It was not just a display of cars, but a reminder of how online communities can come together to create real-world joy.

  • Trump to host Field Marshal Asim Munir at lunch today

Trump to host Field Marshal Asim Munir at lunch today

United States (US) President Donald Trump is scheduled to host Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for lunch at the White House today (Wednesday).

According to the president’s official schedule, the meeting will be held in the Cabinet Room and will be closed to the press.

This development marks a notable diplomatic win for Pakistan in the ongoing contest following last month’s aerial clash with India, which nearly pushed South Asia to the brink of nuclear conflict.

During his five-day official visit to the US, the Field Marshal addressed members of the Pakistani American community on Monday evening in Washington, D.C. The army chief categorically rejected Indian claims that Pakistan was behind the April 22 militant attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), calling it a pretext for cross-border aggression.

He accused New Delhi of seeking to establish a dangerous “new normal” of violating international borders, which Islamabad had forcefully rejected. “We would rather embrace martyrdom than accept this dishonour,” he added.

Addressing the broader regional landscape, the Field Marshal declared Pakistan’s “clear and strong” support for Iran in its war with Israel. He also backed US efforts to de-escalate the situation, stressing, “We want this war to end immediately.”

The army chief emphasised Pakistan’s gratitude for the role overseas Pakistanis play in bolstering the national economy. He dismissed concerns over brain drain, describing it instead as a “brain gain.”

One of the consequential outcomes of Munir’s visit has been the deepening of Pakistan’s counterterrorism cooperation with the US, particularly in efforts against the Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K) group.

Last week, Chief of United States Central Command (CENTCOM) General Michael Kurilla declared Pakistan a “phenomenal partner” in the fight against IS-K, praising Islamabad’s operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Gen. Kurilla revealed to the House Armed Services Committee that Pakistani operations, supported by US intelligence, had killed dozens of IS-K militants and captured multiple high-value individuals, including Mohammad Sharifullah, one of the masterminds of the Abbey Gate bombing in Kabul that claimed the lives of 13 American troops.

“The first person Munir called was me. He said, ‘I’ve caught him ready to extradite him back to the US. Please tell the Secretary of Defence and the President’”, he added.

  • ‘Nuclear programme deterrent for Pakistan’s security,’ clarifies Dar amid Israel attack claims

‘Nuclear programme deterrent for Pakistan’s security,’ clarifies Dar amid Israel attack claims

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Ishaq Dar recently stated that “Pakistan’s nuclear programme is a deterrent for Pakistan’s security”. His statement comes in response to false claims circulating online, suggesting that Pakistan would launch a nuclear attack on Israel if further Israeli strikes were carried out on Iran.

Appearing on a private media outlet on Monday, FM Dar categorically dismissed the claim that Pakistan would carry out a nuclear attack on Israel if Iran were attacked again.

“It is our stated policy since May 28, 1998, that the nuclear programme is deterrent for Pakistan’s security,” he said.

Dar stated that although Pakistan is not a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it abides by its principles, which restrict the member countries from proliferating nuclear weapons. “We have not signed the NPT because our position has always been that we would consider doing it if India signs it,” Dar said.

“God forbid, nuclear war happens,” the deputy PM said, adding that if war happens, then its effects will not be limited to one or two countries, but the whole world.

On Pakistan’s diplomatic effort to ease the tension in the Middle East following the illegitimate Israeli attack in Iran, he said, “We have talked to several Muslim countries” to push for de-escalation of the conflict.

Referring to the recently viral video of U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he allegedly claimed that “Pakistan will totally destroy Israel” if it attacks Iran again, Deputy Prime Minister Dar called it “a lie and fake.”

In the AI-generated fake clip, the U.S. President appears to claim that Pakistan had also threatened to attack the United States, in addition to Israel.

In the altered clip, President Trump adds: “Pakistan has also warned Israel and the US, because Israel has mistakenly said that Pakistan is number 2 after Iran [in its hit list]. Pakistan is fully alert with its air, land, and marine forces. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said if Israel attacks Iran again, Pakistan will totally destroy Israel. When I say Pakistan should not do that, Pakistan has no problem with us; their army is already on very high alert.

In my opinion, Pakistan should not get involved. This is Israel and Iran’s war. We need peace in the region, we need to stop the fighting, not get in the middle that’s a truth that is the smart move (sic)”

Upon close examination, using the InVID Verification Plug-in tool, The Current noticed visual distortions and noticeable lip-sync issues around Trump’s mouth, indicating possible cloning.

  • ‘Parasitical imperial wh*re’: Khawaja Asif’s jibe at exiled Iranian king divides internet

‘Parasitical imperial wh*re’: Khawaja Asif’s jibe at exiled Iranian king divides internet

Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has ignited a heated debate on social media with his latest post on X (formerly Twitter).

Asif rebuked Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last Shah, for his remarks that Iranian people are energised to topple the “weak regime” after illegal Israeli strikes on Iran on Friday killed its top commanders and nuclear scientists.

In an interview with the BBC on Sunday, Pahlavi said, “When you are dealing with the movement of civil disobedience and non-violence against a very brutal regime. At some points, the odds have to shift towards the people. I think people are sensing that right now,” adding that Israeli attacks resulted in creating a new wave of energy and hope.

“You have opposed the Iranian regime for a very long time, though. What evidence do you have that the strikes from Israel are actually stirring up more opposition,” the interviewer asked.

In response, Pahlavi said that the Iranian people and the world have realised that the “root cause of the problem has been the regime in its nature”, adding that the current regime, no longer in effect, is the only solution that would benefit the Iranian people.

“….The ultimate solution is the regime change. Now we have the opportunity because the regime is at its weakest point. There is a window in which we can operate and liberate our country,” he suggested

He went on to further say that when the regime will fall, the world would breathe a sigh of relief and that they would no longer have to fear nuclear threats, terrorism and radicalisation.

Following the interview, the Pakistani defence minister took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “If Iranian people are energised and motivated according to you, show some b*lls and go back and lead them and remove the regime.”

He then called Pahlavi a “bloody parasitical imperial traitor” but a few minutes later, edited it to “imperial wh*re”. He then ended the tweet by saying, “Put your money where your a*se is.”

Internet users from across the globe flooded Asif’s replies, most of them admiring the defence minister for calling out Pahlavi, who has been  unapologetic about supporting Zionism.

Author and activist Trita Parsi expressed awe for Asif’s post for not mincing his words. “OMG… This is Pakistan’s defense minister, calling the son of the Shah a ‘bloody parasitical imperial wh*re’ for cheerleading Israel’s war of aggression against Iran,” Parsi wrote.

“Aside from enjoying the mirth factor, my confidence is bolstered that Pakistan may genuinely back up Iran against the evil entity, particularly in a way that will dissuade a ‘Samson Option’ strike (sic),” wrote one user.

Another user expressed wonder at Asif for choosing such bold words, asking, “WAIT WHAT DID I JUST READ?”. Another wrote, “Imperial whatttttt. Man is he the defence minister.”

One Pakistani user sarcastically wrote, “When a true Sialkotiya curses in English, it still gives you the full desi flavor.”

“OMG! Wow! My respect for Asif Khawaja Saab has gone through the roof! Now this is what you call straight talking, no nonsense! I love it,” said another netizen.

Some users called out Asif for using foul language. A user, while calling Asif’s tweet an “utterly undiplomatic and inappropriate outburst,” wrote, “Personal dislike or political disagreements should never justify crude language, especially from someone holding a high constitutional office. Statesmanship demands restraint, not rudeness.”

“You’re not a random sh*tposter but Defence Minister of a country,” another person wrote.

“Utter shame and disgust that a sitting defence minister has been using such language,” one netizens opined.

  • Five Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in IBOs in KP: ISPR

Five Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in IBOs in KP: ISPR

Five terrorists belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on June 15-16, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed in a statement issued on Monday.

An Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) was conducted by the security forces in Peshawar District on the reported presence of Indian sponsored terrorists, said the military’s media wing.

“During the conduct of operation, own troops skillfully surrounded and effectively engaged the Indian sponsored khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, four Indian sponsored khwarij, including Kharji Haris and Kharji Baseer, were sent to hell,” said the ISPR.

The military’s media wing further said that another IBO was carried out in North Waziristan District and in ensuing fire exchange, one more terrorist was neutralised by the security forces.

“Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the Indian sponsored killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas,” read the statement.

Additionally, the statement noted that sanitisation operations were launched to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, “as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country.”

Meanwhile, data from the Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) shows a five percent rise in militant attacks in May compared to April, though the overall picture suggests militant groups largely remained contained despite the regional geopolitical climate.

According to the PICSS monthly security assessment, May recorded 85 militant attacks, a marginal rise from 81 in April.

These incidents resulted in 113 fatalities, including 52 security forces personnel, 46 civilians, 11 militants, and four members of peace committees. The month also saw 182 individuals injured, comprising 130 civilians, 47 security personnel, four militants, and one peace committee member.

  • What caused tremors in Pak-Iran border area last night?

What caused tremors in Pak-Iran border area last night?

As Iran and Israel remain locked in conflict for the fourth consecutive day, two earthquakes on Sunday night struck the Pakistan-Iran border region, leading to speculation surrounding the nature of the tremors.

While social media argued possible nuclear activity, Met Office data said the tremors were nothing but earthquakes – a 2.5-magnitude quake in the Qom region near the Fordow Nuclear Power Plant, and a 4.3-magnitude earthquake in the southwestern Iranian province of Sistan that is contiguous with Pakistan’s Balochistan.

No casualties were reported in the earthquakes that come hours after Israeli attacks on alleged Iranian nuclear facilities, namely Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow. While the strikes and ambiguity surrounding Iran’s nuclear status led to social media buzz, a day earlier, media reports quoted an Iranian official as confirming that the Israeli airstrikes had earlier hit the Fordow site, which is known for its deep-underground enrichment capabilities.

The latest military exchange between the archrivals also began when Israel struck Iran’s nuclear and military sites on Friday, killing top commanders and six of its atomic scientists. Israeli strikes prompted Iran to unleash attacks with a barrage of missiles in Tel Aviv, wounding multiple.

Tel Aviv has said it wants to stop Tehran from building an atomic weapon, which the latter has consistently denied, stating its uranium enrichment programme is for civilian purposes.

Series of attacks have continued ever since, resulting in multiple casualties on both sides.

Media reports claimed that as many as 220 individuals, including 70 women, children, top commanders and nuclear scientists, have been killed in Israel’s attack on Iran.

Several casualties have been reported in Tel Aviv following a series of missile attacks launched by Iran in response to Israel’s aggression.

  • Pakistani cyberwarriors turned off stadium lights during IPL match: defence minister

Pakistani cyberwarriors turned off stadium lights during IPL match: defence minister

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has linked a recent power outage during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match to a retaliatory cyberattack carried out by Pakistani hackers.

Speaking in the National Assembly on June 14, Khawaja Asif stated, “After the Indian government and military showed aggression, our children (referring to young hackers) launched a cyberattack in response.” He claimed that the hackers managed to disrupt the IPL by shutting down the stadium lights mid-match.

“Our cyber warriors did a remarkable job by switching off the floodlights during an IPL match,” he added, applauding the alleged cyber operation.

Khawaja Asif further stated that Pakistani hackers targeted key Indian installations, including control systems of cricket stadiums and even dams. “They also hit sensitive Indian infrastructure,” he noted.

The incident he referred to took place on May 8 during a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Dharamshala stadium. The floodlights suddenly went off in the middle of the game, causing panic among franchise officials, team owners, and the stadium administration. The match was halted, and the crowd was instructed to evacuate for safety.

Despite this alleged cyberattack, Asif emphasised that Pakistan, even in response to Indian aggression, did not target innocent civilians.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif criticised India for blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without conducting any investigation. He termed it a failed attempt by India to justify a botched operation, which led to the tragic deaths of several innocent people.

  • Fact Check: Viral video of Donald Trump saying ‘Pakistan will destroy Israel if Iran attacked again’ is FAKE

Fact Check: Viral video of Donald Trump saying ‘Pakistan will destroy Israel if Iran attacked again’ is FAKE

A video of US President Donald Trump saying that if Israel attacks Iran again, “Pakistan will totally destroy Israel” has gone viral across social media platforms.

However, is the video real? The Current has taken a deeper look at the clips being shared on social media.

The audio in the viral video is not real, and it has been generated with the help of Artificial intelligence (AI).

Upon close examination, using the InVID Verification Plug-in tool, The Current noticed visual distortions and noticeable lip-sync issues around Trump’s mouth, indicating possible cloning.

Trump is further heard saying in the video that Pakistan had also threatened the US of an attack, along with Israel.

“Pakistan has also warned Israel and the US, because Isarel has mistakenly said that Pakistan is number 2 after Iran [in its hit list].

Many social media users shared Trump’s fake video, which can be seen here, here, here and here.

The claim attributed to the Pakistani defence minister that Pakistan will destroy Israel if Iran is attacked again is also fabricated.

Speaking during a session in the National Assembly on Saturday, Asif actually said, “[…] we will protect Iran’s interests at the international level in whatever way they need. Iranians are our brothers and neighbours… their sorrow and joy, their pain and happiness is ours.”

Conclusion: The Current found in its investigation that the entire US president’s audio in the viral video is fake and that it was created with the help of AI.

  • Everyone’s turn will come if Muslim world doesn’t unite: Kh Asif

Everyone’s turn will come if Muslim world doesn’t unite: Kh Asif

With the Middle East crisis deepening since after Israel’s deadly strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory action, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has cautioned that the Muslim world could face dire consequences in absence of unity against aggressors.

“If the Muslim world does not unite and [every country] keeps on protecting its own interests, everyone’s turn will come,” he said while speaking during a session of the National Assembly (NA) on Saturday, referring to Israel’s crimes against Palestine, Yemen and Iran.

He said that most Muslim countries were “militarily vulnerable” and those who had sophisticated weapons and equipment “lacked the motivation to fight”.

Underscoring Islamabad’s longstanding ties with Tehran, the defence minister went on to express solidarity with the country as the Israeli operation continues to target Iranian commanders, nuclear scientists and defence infrastructure.

The minister also alleged that Israel was “not alone” and had been “provided all sorts of cover” to target Iran’s nuclear facilities. “But we will protect Iran’s interests at the international level in whatever way they need. Iranians are our brothers and neighbours… their sorrow and joy, their pain and happiness is ours.”

Asif also said that Israel was committing atrocities against Palestinians and was responsible for the destruction of Palestine. “Israel’s hands are stained with the blood of Palestinians… the way children have been martyred and oppressed in Palestine has not triggered a strong enough response from the Islamic world. It is the conscience of non-Muslims that is awakening, but not that of Muslims,” he added.

Asif also called for a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Council (OIC) so that Muslim countries can “formulate a joint strategy to confront Israel’s illegitimate actions”.

Separately, he went on to criticise incarcerated former prime minister (PM) Imran Khan and ex-army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, accusing them of “undermining national dignity” by returning captured Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to India following the 2019 stand-off.

IAF’s Wing Commander Abhinandan was six years ago captured by Pakistan after his MiG 21 Bison aircraft was shot down by a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jet. Then-premier Khan, after consulting with the military leadership, had decided to return him to India soon after.

  • Minister turns off ACs at Railways Headquarters over delays in air-conditioner installation for passengers

Minister turns off ACs at Railways Headquarters over delays in air-conditioner installation for passengers

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has taken strict action against officials over delays in installing air-conditioners in express trains. On Thursday, he ordered all ACs at the Pakistan Railways (PR) headquarters, including the CEO’s office, to be turned off.

This decision was not well received by many senior officers, who called the move inhumane.

“If anything wrong has happened, the minister should order an inquiry to fix responsibility instead of getting the ACs switched off,” one of the officials said.

He also criticised the minister for cancelling the Saturday public holiday, calling it “ridiculous” and “unjustified.”

According to the official, around 70 AC units were switched off at the headquarters.

Abbasi defended his decision, saying officials must understand the suffering of passengers who paid for AC coaches but did not get the promised facilities. “The department was supposed to receive as many as 100 AC units by June 10, but they received only four,” he said.

“The officers concerned should have placed supply orders with four or five firms to ensure timely delivery. Instead, they gave the order to just one vendor,” he pointed out, adding that even this vendor was contacted late, and the order should have been placed before the summer began.

The minister warned that if complaints about non-working ACs in trains continue, ACs in divisional headquarters across all seven divisions will also be switched off in phases.

Abbasi also spoke about his own efforts during Eid. “I didn’t spend time with my family during the Eid holidays. I started my journey from Rawalpindi on the third day of Eid,” he said. He went to Okara to offer condolences to the family of a railway official who died in the partial collapse of the Khanewal station bridge. He also inspected the Okara station and, on public demand, contacted the DG Passports to set up a passport office in the city.

At Khanewal, he met passengers who complained about non-operational ACs in their coaches. “This forced me to take action, and I finally did,” he said. Abbasi added that he is personally monitoring various inquiries and promised to protect the rights of passengers by all means.

He also mentioned that Rs26 billion has been allocated in the federal budget for the railway sector under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). “Though I am not satisfied with this allocation, it will help us complete ongoing development schemes,” he said.
