KP leads the way in climate action with massive carbon credit potential

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is emerging as a national leader in climate action, with its forest and renewable energy sectors poised to earn over Rs32 billion ($113.1 million) annually through carbon credit trading, according to official documents.

A recent feasibility study by the forest department revealed KP’s ability to market 11.8 million carbon credits through afforestation, improved forest management, and REDD+ initiatives across more than 2 million hectares of land. These efforts alone could generate $113 million annually by tapping into the global voluntary carbon market, which is expected to reach $40 billion by 2050.

To support this green transformation, KP launched its first-ever Carbon Asset Inventory in collaboration with the UK-funded SEED Programme. The inventory maps renewable energy projects under the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), evaluating their eligibility for carbon credits and International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur hailed the initiative as a “historic milestone” toward sustainable economic growth, saying it reflects KP’s commitment to clean energy, climate resilience, and attracting global green finance.

PEDO’s renewable energy portfolio, which includes hydropower and solar projects, has already qualified for leading international standards like Verra, Gold Standard, and the Global Carbon Council. The potential to avoid 5.4 million tonnes of CO₂ annually could generate up to 11.9 million I-RECs, opening substantial revenue opportunities for the province.

In another significant step, PEDO signed an agreement with the Pakistan Environment Trust to register with Evident, the global I-REC registry, formally entering international renewable energy markets with five projects in the first phase.

KP’s forest cover has already increased by 6% due to landmark initiatives like the Billion Trees Afforestation Project and the Ten Billion Trees Tsunami Programme. The forest department is now targeting barren land, especially in the southern and tribal districts, for fresh plantations to further boost green cover and carbon sequestration.

The KP government’s dual approach—expanding forests and clean energy—sets a strong example for climate-smart development. With strategic planning, international partnerships, and a clear vision, the province is well-positioned to turn its natural resources into a powerful engine for sustainable growth.

Karachi mom creates rare birth record

A young couple from Karachi’s Baldia Town has welcomed quintuplets, three girls and two boys in their first pregnancy, a year after getting married.

According to media reports, the father, Adnan Sheikh, shared that his wife had an emergency C-section in the 29th week of pregnancy. All five babies were born extremely premature as a typical pregnancy lasts between 37 and 40 weeks.

“We are praying. I request everyone to please pray for our babies’ health,” said Adnan while speaking to the media.

Following their birth, the newborns were immediately shifted to the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and placed on oxygen support.

According to the doctors, the babies’ lungs were underdeveloped and their birth weights were dangerously low. While there have been signs of slight improvement, the next few days remain crucial.

Health experts explained that babies born before 32 weeks face a high risk of complications, including breathing difficulties, brain hemorrhages, infections, and long-term developmental challenges. Hospital staff is reportedly providing the best possible care to save the lives of the newborns.

  • Freelancers beware, online groups could make you lose millions

Freelancers beware, online groups could make you lose millions

Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) has issued an advisory warning to protect social media users from the growing number of honey trap scams disguised as freelancing opportunities. According to reports, scammers are utilising messaging apps such as WhatsApp to extort large sums of money from their victims.

Reports suggest that these “honey trap” scams are growing rapidly across Punjab. As per the National CERT, fraudsters invite unsuspecting individuals into groups on messaging apps that seemingly provide employment opportunities. People usually believe these groups are legitimate as the scam artists reportedly pose as recruiters of official freelancing platforms.

Moreover, multiple scam artists often partake in group discussions to lend the group an air of legitimacy. However, individuals are then reportedly exposed to explicit content to elicit a response that can allow the scammers to blackmail their victims.

Reports indicate the fraudsters then reach out to all of the individuals who react to such content, attempting to persuade them to share it on other platforms. This results in the victims incriminating themselves, which allows the scammers to begin their extortion process.

The scammers then pose as law enforcement officers, asking for sums as high as Rs1.5 million in exchange for not taking legal action against the victim. Details from reports reveal that the majority of the victims are young, as scammers target job seekers, knowing they are likely to stay in groups that could land them employment.

However, this demographic often lacks sufficient disposable income, resulting in victims relying on family for support. This causes immense financial strain on both the victim and their household.

According to the National CERT advisory, user behaviour on social media and technical vulnerabilities contribute to the success of honey trap scams. A lack of digital safety awareness, coupled with the availability of personal information in group chats, has been outlined as a key contributor to the success of the scams.

The primary contributor, however, is the ability scammers possess to add potential victims to their group chats without their consent.

The National CERT has suggested that social media users change their privacy settings to ensure they remain protected. Moreover, the cyber body also advised users not to engage with job offers on social media and to exit any group chat wherein individuals are sharing obscene content.

  • Kashif Zameer blames THIS superstar for Rajab Butt’s legal troubles

Kashif Zameer blames THIS superstar for Rajab Butt’s legal troubles

Controversial TikToker Kashif Zameer has stirred up yet another online dispute by claiming that a top Pakistani actor is behind the ongoing legal troubles faced by YouTuber Rajab Butt.

Appearing on the TV show Suno Tou Sahi, Zameer alleged that the actor in question is superstar Fahad Mustafa, stating that someone close to the actor personally shared this information with him and even showed him evidence.

When the host asked, “Did you really say that whatever issues you and Rajab are facing are because of Fahad Mustafa,”, Zameer replied, “Yes, I still say the same today.” He added, “A person who knows Fahad Mustafa personally told me that he is behind Rajab Butt’s legal issues. He even showed me evidence.”

Zameer went on to claim that he “heard a voice note” which had “Fahad Mustafa’s voice.” However, he refused to disclose the contents of the voice note or share the evidence on-air. He further said, “I would also like to tell Fahad Mustafa that before targeting someone, check the facts and see how that person is handling everything. I always stand with Rajab in every issue, and that’s why I’ve also faced similar problems.”

Zameer suggested that Rajab’s rising popularity may have caused jealousy among certain individuals. “Rajab has gained a lot of fame, and some people can’t handle it,” he said. “Out of jealousy, they are digging up his old videos and making them viral to target him.”

He also offered advice to the YouTuber. “He should be more careful in his videos,” Zameer said. “People often twist his words and take them out of context, which lands him in trouble.”

Tensions between Rajab Butt and Fahad Mustafa began when Fahad, during an appearance on Shoaib Akhtar’s show, took a dig at social media influencers and family vloggers. “They are selling their families for content,” Fahad said. “Their content is making kheer in the kitchen, rubbing their mother’s feet, and then going as far as visiting a graveyard… matlab yeh kya hai, yeh kaunsa content hai?”

He continued, “I can tell both good or bad story, but I will never sell my house for the sake of views. I will never sell myself this way.”

Fahad also compared influencers and actors: “If you ever go on a shoot or sit on a set, it takes time. There’s a process. They can’t work longer than two to eight hours. And how would they understand? They have their phone and can make something in 10 seconds.”

Rajab Butt did not hold back in his response. “A senior earns his own respect,” he said in an interview. “Fahad once said, ‘I cannot sell my family through a video,’ but everyone knows how people get roles in dramas.”

He further stated, “A true senior is someone who earns their own respect. Thank God, I am earning and living on my own, and I have never accepted a role in any drama.”

Taking a direct jab, Rajab added, “He talks about not selling his family, but he is selling other people’s families. So, it’s better for him to keep his mouth shut.”

He also criticized Fahad’s game show: “Aren’t you influencing households by shouting ‘I want girls’ on the show? Meanwhile, we’re just sitting in our homes and working.”

With Kashif Zameer’s explosive statements now in the mix, the feud between Rajab Butt and Fahad Mustafa shows no signs of cooling down.

  • Is your ‘protected’ power status about to disappear?

Is your ‘protected’ power status about to disappear?

The federal government is considering eliminating the “protected” consumer category for users of the national grid. According to reports, Islamabad plans to replace the current financial relief provided to consumers using up to 200 units of electricity with a direct subsidy.

For context, a “protected consumer” in the domestic power sector refers to an individual who uses 200 units of electricity or less per month through a single-phase meter. To qualify for this status, the consumer must consistently consume a maximum of 200 units per month for at least six consecutive months.

During the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting, led by Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan, Power Division Secretary Dr. Fakhar Alam Irfan reportedly stated that the federal government plans to end the protected consumer category by 2027.

Taking notice of the sharp hike in electricity tariffs for consumers using more than 200 units of power, the PAC reportedly directed the Power Division to find a solution for the hefty bills that continue for six months even if users cross the 200-unit threshold by just a single unit.

The reason behind this request was that exceeding the 200-unit threshold even once results in the loss of protected consumer status and consumers having to maintain monthly consumption below this limit for six consecutive months to regain it.

According to the Power Division Secretary, the number of protected consumers has increased by approximately 64 percent, rising from 11 million to 18 million. Moreover, 58 percent of power users consume only up to 200 units of power, suggesting that the magnitude of financial resources to protect all of these consumers could be quite large.

Reports indicate that the government might end the protected category, dispersing aid to power consumers by granting direct subsidies to deserving groups. These decisions are reportedly going to be based on data from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

While various deserving power consumers are detrimentally impacted by minorly exceeding the 200 unit threshold, it merits a mention that the higher tariff slab rate has been circumvented by various individuals across Pakistan. This has been possible by the installation of multiple single-phase meters at residences.

Netizens have questioned what actions the government plans to take about people with multiple single-phase meters who remain in the protected category by distributing their power consumption across various meters.

Missing three-year-old found begging outside Karachi mosque

Karachi police on Tuesday arrested a couple along with their son-in-law for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old boy who was later found begging outside a mosque in Shah Latif Town months after his disappearance.

According to SHO Sadaruddin Mirani, Hussain Ali, a child with an intellectual disability, went missing on May 4 while accompanying his father, Asif Hussain, at their roadside vegetable stall in Sector 17-A of Shah Latif Town. When initial search efforts failed, the family lodged a complaint at the Shah Latif Town police station.

A formal kidnapping case was registered on May 27 on the complaint of the child’s uncle, Nasir Hussain, under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code (731/25).The family, originally from Multan, had been desperately searching for the child.

Asif Hussain recounted the painful ordeal, saying, “My son wandered off while I was working. When I returned home shortly after, he was nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere but there was no trace of him. Reporting his disappearance to police was our last hope.”

He went on to say that the family was greatly impacted by the prolonged uncertainty, particularly his wife, whose health gradually deteriorated.

“We kept praying and, by the grace of God, our son has finally been found. We are grateful beyond words,” he said.

The breakthrough came on Monday when a friend of Hussain Ali spotted him near Farooq-e-Azam Mosque in Sector A-16. The boy recognised his missing friend outside the mosque with a man later identified as a professional beggar who was allegedly forcing the child to beg.

“I saw a suspicious man with a child who looked like my missing friend. I immediately alerted his uncle, who was inside the mosque,” the boy said.

The suspect, named as Shaharyar, was caught by the uncle and locals and beaten before being handed over to the police.

Shaharyar confessed under questioning that the kidnapped child had been given to him by his in-laws. Police arrested the alleged criminal couple after receiving this information.

Residents of Shah Latif Town told the media that several children had been abducted in the area recently, fueling suspicion of an organised kidnapping gang.

They urged the authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the disappearances.

  • Ozzy Osbourne dies at 76, weeks after farewell concert in Birmingham

Ozzy Osbourne dies at 76, weeks after farewell concert in Birmingham

Legendary heavy metal artist Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at 76, weeks after performing what was described as his farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.

His family issued a statement confirming his death on Wednesday morning. “It is with profound sadness that we announce our dear Ozzy Osbourne has departed this morning. He was with his family and enveloped in love,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, Osbourne performed at Villa Park in front of 42,000 fans, during which he expressed his gratitude to the audience, saying: “You can’t imagine how I feel – thank you from the depths of my heart.”

The event, titled ‘Back to the Beginning,’ was described as Osbourne’s “final farewell” and featured performances by Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. For the first time in two decades, Osbourne reunited with original Black Sabbath members, Tony Iommi, Terence “Geezer” Butler, and Bill Ward, concluding the electrifying event on July 5.

Fellow musicians have paid tribute on social media. Metallica shared a photo with Osbourne on X, accompanied by a broken heart emoji.

Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones remarked that it was “a lovely farewell concert.” Black Sabbath’s official account shared a photo from the Villa Park performance with the message: “Ozzy Forever.” UB40’s Ali Campbell said Osbourne “shaped a culture” and called him “a true Birmingham legend.” Elton John described him as a “trailblazer” and noted that he was “one of the funniest individuals” he had ever met.

Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne in Aston, Birmingham, on December 3, 1948, co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968. The band’s debut album, Black Sabbath, entered the UK Top 10 in 1970, followed by iconic tracks such as Paranoid, Iron Man, and War Pigs. Over the years, the band sold more than 75 million records worldwide.

Osbourne was dismissed from Black Sabbath in 1979 due to struggles with substance abuse, but he made a successful solo comeback with Blizzard of Ozz in 1980 and Diary of a Madman in 1981, both achieving multi-platinum status. He was later inducted into both the UK Music Hall of Fame and the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a solo artist and as a member of Black Sabbath.

In recent years, Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and suffered injuries from a fall in 2019, which forced him to cancel multiple tours. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, two older children, Jessica and Louis, and several grandchildren.

‘Free Imran Khan’: Trump aide Grenell meets Imran Khan’s sons in US

United States (US) President Donald Trump’s Envoy for Special Missions, Richard Grenell, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to share a photo where he’s meeting jailed former premier Imran Khan’s sons Suleman Khan and Kasim Khan, advising them to “stay strong”.

He welcomed his “friends” in California, writing, “I loved hanging out with you [Suleman Khan and Kasim Khan] today.”

“There are millions of people around the world who are sick of political prosecutions. You are not alone. #freeimrankhan,” he added.

When a social media user with the handle @AsadMalik123 thanked him for meeting Imran Khan’s sons upon the request of the Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee (PAC) and appreciated his “sincere leadership in working towards releasing #imrankhanPTI”, Grenell responded, “Thank you! We are in this fight together.”

Following the crackdown of security forces on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demonstrators on November 26, 2024, in Islamabad, Grenell initially posted on his account on X in favour of Imran Khan, writing, “Free Imran Khan!”. However, he did not receive much attention at that time.

He was discussed in Pakistani politics on December 15, when Trump appointed Grenell as his aide in his administration. His social media posts then were amplified by PTI supporters.

In December last year, during his appearance at the US media outlet Newsmax, Grenell claimed that Donald Trump shared a host of allegations with Imran Khan. “There are a lot of the same allegations just like President Trump, where the ruling party put him in prison and created some sort of corruption allegations and false allegations (sic),” he said.

Come August 5, Imran Khan will have completed two years in jail, as in 2023, on the same day, he was apprehended from his residence at Zaman Park Lahore, shortly after his conviction in the Toshakhana case. Currently, he is being held in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi under B-class facilities due to his status as a former premier.

  • BJP government plans major step to control BCCI

BJP government plans major step to control BCCI

The BJP-led Indian government has taken a major step by deciding to bring the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) under the proposed National Sports Governance Bill.

According to media reports, the bill is scheduled to be presented in Parliament today (Wednesday).

The move aims to officially bring the BCCI under the Ministry of Sports’ jurisdiction for the first time. It also seeks to align India’s sports governance framework with the Olympic and Paralympic charters.

While the BCCI has traditionally operated independently without relying on government funding, the proposed bill could bring structural changes to the Board. According to media reports, the bill is likely to increase the maximum age limit for office-bearers from 70 to 75 years.

However, BCCI President Roger Binny may still have vacate his post due to age concerns. Vice President Rajeev Shukla’s tenure is also reportedly nearing its end.

The BCCI has long functioned autonomously, but the BJP government’s decision to include it under the National Sports Governance Bill signals a significant shift in how top sports bodies may be regulated moving forward.

  • Your House Flipped Again? Visual Escape Plans with Dreamina

Your House Flipped Again? Visual Escape Plans with Dreamina

So your house is inside out once more. The pantry’s a hanging garden, the bathroom sink is floating over the roof, and your bed? It’s hanging upside down, swaying delicately from a streetlight. Before you freak out, breathe. Houses that radically reshape themselves happen more often than you might imagine in the post-reality suburbs of the imagination. And now, with Dreamina’s AI photo generator, you don’t merely endure these dreamlike transformations, you document them, analyze them, and even create your own visual escape guides.

In this article, we’ll take you through survival strategies, home-flip etiquette, and emergency visual aid making using Dreamina’s enchanted tools. If your ceiling is suddenly your porch and your hallway is spinning into a stairway of light, don’t panic. You’re not by yourself. You’re just experiencing animated architecture.

Why you should create your own inside-out house guide

You’ve got the flashlight, the emergency rations, the spare toothbrush. But do you have a personalized visual map to help you navigate through a hallway that’s become a mobius strip? Making one is simple with Dreamina. If your house flips on every new moon or just whenever you sneeze too loudly, a pictorial guide to emergencies can help keep you centered (or at least know the direction of “down” this week). Let’s go through the process of making your own guide in Dreamina’s 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Write a text prompt

Open Dreamina’s interface. In the prompt box, write a description of your reimagined home in surreal, precise language. The more descriptive your prompt, the more useful (and strangely accurate) your emergency visual guide will prove to be. For instance:

An exploded-view drawing of a Victorian-style house turned inside out, with staircases floating in the air, glowing doorframes suspended in the sky, and a kitchen counter with upside-down flowers growing on it.

Step 2: Set parameters and generate

Once your prompt is ready, choose a style model, maybe something architectural or dreamlike, choose the aspect ratio required for layout- landscape for diagrams, portrait for pocket guides, and pick either 1k or 2k resolution based on detail. Click Dreamina’s icon to generate and let Dreamina manifest your inside-out vision.

    Step 3: Customize and download

Once the image is up, you can refine it with Dreamina’s artistic features. Use inpaint to label emergency exits. Stretch the picture to display several configurations of a room. Delete elements that seem too cluttered and refine sections for clarity or artistic texture. When finished, click on “Download” and save your personalized emergency flip-map.

Rules for navigation during architectural reversals

When your home turns itself over like a puzzle box constructed out of logic-bending geometry, keep the golden rules in mind:

    • Sidle sideways until gravity decides a new direction.

    • If the room enters a loop of infinity, scatter breadcrumbs made of toffee (ants can’t help but follow).

    • Mirrors now reflect the future. Avoid eye contact unless you enjoy spoilers.

These situations look better when shown. Use Dreamina to create visible symbols and stickers, such as spinning arrows, caution symbols, and “This Used to Be a Closet” signs. An irrational situation requires irrational visual vocabulary.

Room behavior patterns (now that the roof is a slide)

Certain rooms have a tendency to behave more than others during these transitions. Here’s what to watch out for:

    • The basement tends to become the attic. Bring gloves.

    • The closet sometimes turns into a memory vault. Things will emotionally judge you.

    • The kitchen adores drama. Be prepared for upside-down soup and ghostly cutlery duets.

Create diagrams for all of these rooms utilizing Dreamina’s free AI art generator. Caption them with moods such as “Suspicious Stove Energy” or “Couch No Longer Trustworthy.” Print and post them around your home (if your walls are cooperating).

    Design official house flip credentials

You’ve survived one, perhaps five, flip-events. You could use a badge of honor, or at least a personalized ID. With Dreamina’s AI logo generator, you can even design your own “Certified Structural Surrealist” seal, complete with a floating house symbol, spiral staircase symbol, or umbrella logo. Tuck it into your visual guide or print it on a card to flash at bewildered guests or curious neighbors.

Pro tip: Include a QR code referring to your emergency protocol folder. Every turned-over house requires a bit of tech support.

What to tell the guest while entertaining during a flip

When your house rearranges itself in the middle of having company, remain polite and cool. Welcome your guests with confidence and a hint of humor. Assure them, “Don’t worry, today’s gravity shifts are soft.” Let them know that “the teacups are in the back of the sky-window,” and in case of confusion, direct them with, “If you go into the left corridor and say your name backwards, you will end up in the dining room.” Guesting in an inverted house isn’t impossible, it just takes a bit of bizarre hospitality. For a bonus charm, use Dreamina to design surreal signage for guests, arrows with eyes, welcome mats that float, or tea instructions illustrated with birds. You’re not just surviving the chaos, you’re curating it.

Final thought: When the world rearranges, let art be your anchor

Your house spinning inside out may be a nightmare, but it’s also a design proposition. Using resources such as Dreamina’s photo generator, AI logo creator, and free AI art creator, you can make disorientation into a lovely design. You don’t have to merely survive your home’s sensational revamps, you can chronicle them, lead others, and perhaps even anticipate the next one. In a world where your kitchen floats like a helium balloon and even your sofa sings opera at 1 AM, the best possible survival tool could in fact be your imagination. So research for your slippers, open up Dreamina, and draw for yourself a way through the chaos. You are not just ready-you are certified.
