Lies? Shafqat Mahmood says the ‘US conspiracy’ against Khan was ‘politics, not true’

Former Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood recently appeared on senior journalist Mansoor Ali Khan’s podcast where Mahmood stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) narrative about US conspiracy in Khan’s ouster from power in 2022 was “not true at all.”

Khan asked the PTI leader whether the US was behind PTI’s removal from government, to which Mahmood replied, “They didn’t do anything at all. In politics, you have to make a lot of narratives; not all of them are hundred per cent true.”

Shocked at his reply, the journalist said, “Sir, this is a lie you told.” Shafqat Mahmood replied, “You can call it a lie or it’s just politics.”

In 2022, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, alleged that the US conspired against his government in the infamous “cipher”, which, according to Khan, was the evidence of the conspiracy.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government faces criticism over large-scale deforestation

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is reportedly associated with large-scale deforestation in the province, which has been ongoing for the past two years.

Among the suspects is Minister Fazal Hakeem, who was removed from his position as Provincial Minister for Climate Change and Environment and reassigned to the portfolio of Livestock following condemnation on social media regarding the deforestation in the province.

The deforestation rate in Pakistan has been recorded at 25 percent, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being more affected than other provinces.

Swat, Shangla, and Mansehra are among the most affected regions.

Deforestation is also one of the major contributors to increased temperatures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reportedly leading to a 26 percent rise.

In 2015, Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, launched the Billion Tree Tsunami project to counter land erosion and the degradation of mountainous terrain.

Assault incident against PML-N worker by a PTI worker turns out to be fake

In a new twist to the story, the assault against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) worker by a Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker, Aneela Riaz, turned out to be fake as it allegedly pre-planned, Geo News reported.

According to police sources, Tahir Anjum and Anila Riaz, aka Neeli Pari, had a telephone conversation before the incident, and she also went to Anjum’s house.

Both have, to the police, confessed that the entire incident was pre-planned. Interestingly, she was present at Tahir Anjum’s house at the time of her arrest.

Earlier, videos emerged on social media in which Neeli Pari was seen assaulting Anjum by stopping his car and even tearing his clothes outside the Punjab Assembly.

  • Ameer JI Naeem ur Rehman says its ‘suspicious’ that PTI candidates want re-elections

Ameer JI Naeem ur Rehman says its ‘suspicious’ that PTI candidates want re-elections

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has hit out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for demanding re-elections in the country, saying, “Form 45s are available, and if you avoid that and want a re-election then that means something is suspicious.”

Naeem ur Rehman addressed a large gathering of JI supporters at the party’s sit-in in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh.

According to the Chief JI, most PTI candidates have a legitimate case on Form 45s, so asking for re-election would mean “they want a deal as well.”

He also said, “There are those parties that complain about rigged elections, but in reality, they don’t have a problem with that; they’re complaining because they didn’t get the piece of the pie.”

Naeem Ur Rehman said that those wanting re-election in the country are “in collusion with them” because it is very straightforward that a legal document (Form 45) is available; it should be utilised.

CM Gandapur says won’t allow military operation in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on July 26 stated that his government won’t allow a military operation in the province as the federal government criticised him for following “a man imprisoned in Adiala Jail.”

“As a chief minister, I announce that we will not allow any operation in this province,” Gandapur said while addressing a gathering of Bannu Aman Jirga.

His statement came after CM Gandapur chaired an apex committee meeting, in which he assured the jirga of their demands, including the increased role of police in KP.

The Aman jirga was held after the Bannu incident in which at least four people were killed while several were injured after a protest turned violent.

In his fiery signatory speech, Gandapur also remarked, “Any highhandedness, if committed in the province, will be perceived as being against me.”

However, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, responding to CM KP’s statement, said that the Gandapur had to make such remarks because he was answerable to “only one man.”

He also said that the KP government has no plans to deal with terrorism, claiming that terrorism incidents had increased during PTI’s tenure as “they brought TTP back.”

Videos emerged on social media in which Neeli Pari was seen assaulting Anjum by stopping his car and even tearing his clothes outside the Punjab Assembly.

Khan urges General Asim Munir to stay ‘neutral’

Founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, recently talked with journalists saying that she has a message for the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir from Imran Khan.

“The two parties (PPP and PML-N) have completely lost in every aspect; therefore, they want to bring the people of Pakistan up against the army,” said Aleema, delivering Khan’s message to the Chief of Army.

According to Aleema, Khan stated, “Army is the backbone of our country and we must honor our army because it protects our country.”

She said that Khan condemned the lack of rule of law in the country and the degradation of democracy, blaming it for causing “brain drain and loss of confidence in businesses in Pakistan.”

She finally stated that Khan had asked General Asim Munir to stay “neutral” for the sake of the country.

Achakzai says protestors fired at army in Bannu incident

The chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and ally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, recently appeared on a Dawn News programme, expressing solidarity with army in the recent Bannu protests.

“DG ISPR’s press conference on the Bannu issue was completely correct. People within the protestors opened fire, and rumours were spread that Army killed scores of innocent people,” stated the key ally of PTI.

Achakzai opined that according to their own investigation, it was found that some people amongst the protestors opened fire, due to which “one person got killed.”

He also said, “My disagreement with the army is due to our difference of understanding in their constitutional role and I can say, without a doubt, the army did not fire at the protestors. In fact, they pelted stones at the Army.”

  • LHC declares Khan’s physical remand in twelve May 9 cases ‘null & void’

LHC declares Khan’s physical remand in twelve May 9 cases ‘null & void’

The Lahore High Court on July 25 declared former Prime Minster Imran Khan’s physical remand in 12 cases in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) related to May 9 null and void.

The hearing on the petitions against the physical remand in 12 cases of the PTI founder was conducted by Justice Tariq Saleem and Justice Anwar-ul-Haq, two members of the bench. During the hearing, the Prosecutor General of Punjab presented arguments.

During the hearing, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh remarked that the “accused could not be forced to undergo a photogrammetric test.”

Earlier, Khan refused to take forensic tests, including polygraph, photogrammetry and voice matching tests, as Lahore police tried to interrogate him in these 12 cases.

In his arguments, the prosecutor stated that the facility for the photogrammetric test is available within the jail and does not require outside transportation.

He emphasized that denying the prosecution the full opportunity to present its case would be unfair, adding that the prosecution is entirely responsible for any failures in the case.

The Prosecutor General noted that Imran Khan created a specific narrative through tweets, and retrieving the phones used for tweeting and WhatsApp messaging is impossible without an investigation.

The court responded by pointing out that judges often receive threats. Justice Anwar-ul-Haq questioned how the accused could be taken anywhere for investigation when he is in jail, making phone recovery impossible.

In the end, the court decided to declare Imran Khan’s physical remand in the 12 cases null and void and also nullify the notification for his video link appearance as the PTI founder.

Khan wanted to hang opposition but establishment didn’t want to go that far: Rana Sanaullah

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday attended the “Change the Game!” Ministerial Forum at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where he addressed a gathering of Pakistanis saying, “There was a fight between the establishment and Imran Khan over his demand to hang the opposition.”

According to the advisor, this was the main reason why friction started between the establishment and former Prime Minister Imran Khan because the establishment did not want to go that far.

Sanaullah said, “Khan’s thinking is not democratic; it is dictatorial and riotous.”

He also remarked that when PTI, under the leadership of Imran Khan, first came into power, Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal offered to work together, but Khan “wanted to put them all in jail.”

PML-N’s senior leader also opined that the no-confidence motion brought against Khan in 2022 was unconstitutional.

He also urged the Pakistanis abroad to help the country in dealing with “digital terrorism.”
